This inn is based on a large green, the surroundings are lovely but there is not much else going on in direction so you need to head to north Berwick for bars and restaurants. As a result, this place seems to be pretty busy at meal times, but it is a little dark and old in the bar/restaurant. Going in... More

Came here for lunch with some friends after a visit to the castle opposite. Really liked this place. Good selection of dishes, good quality, decent portion sizes. Pleasant, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff. You could easily spend a very nice evening here. Bonus is that they admit dogs, which is always a plus. If you're in the area, this is a... More

We were encouraged to try this inn/restaurant by friends who live locally, & a lunch and a dinner later we can strongly recommend this pub on the green in Dirleton. The menu was excellent, well presented, and delicious. The service was prompt, friendly, and efficient. The bar has sport on the screen but unobtrusively. Calmer and less loud than the... More

A most successful first visit to the Castle Inn on the recommendation of several friends. Imaginative menu, delicious food, mostly locally sourced, friendly and relaxed service (despite the fact the place was busy) and good disabled facilities in the bar/bistro. It was a happy visit and a great way to start 2014.

I was at the Castle Inn yesterday (19th October 2013) with the rest of my family to celebrate my Mother and Father's 50th Wedding Anniversary. I can't praise the venue for everything, they were helpful, pleasant and to top it off the food standard was excellent and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending to anyone. The selection of the menu was... More

Luckily we had booked for lunch as this place was very busy,we were attended too quickly and pleasantly, order was taken and the food was really nice, the staff cleared up as soon as a table became vacant. If there was a fault we felt we were rushed out at 2.30 though we don't think the place closed.

We had two nights at the Castle Inn on the 21st and 22 August after hearing about it from their sister restaurant ZITTOS in North Berwick,[ which also has first class service and fab food]. In both places all staff made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. At the Castle our bedroom was large and very... More

Booked into the Castle Inn for 2 nights and received the very warmest of welcomes upon arrival, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The bedroom was fairly large with a good size comfortable double bed, double wardrobe and flat screen tv. The ensuite even had a jacuzzi bath, although never tried it. The breakfasts on both mornings were... More

My daughter (16) and I had an excellent lunch in this inn in Dirleton, in the beer garden which was clean and tidy and a lovely location for a summer al fresco meal. The bar staff were very helpful and courteous. The food was delicious and although not cheap was well worth what we paid. The toilets were clean. I... More

Grandma, Gramps, Son, Daughter-in-Law, plus Archie (5) and Charlie (3) had lunch yesterday at this welcoming pub in Dirleton after some fun on the nearby beach at Yellow Craigs. Service was very good including immediate rearrangement of tables to accompany six hungry beachcombers in the bar. The staff quickly served the boys' lunch and our plates were not far behind....
