Great welcome from Danni and Danny. Friendly locals who were happy to chat. Loved the food lots of choice including a daily specials board. Comfortable warm room. Hearty Breakfast. Great value for money. Will visit again, great place to use as an overnight stop off.

The staff at The Shady Oak go above and beyond to ensure that their guests are looked after. The customer service here is excellent. I was visiting as part of a funeral party, so not the happiest of occasions, but the food, accommodation and friendly staff made the whole experience a more pleasant one. I can highly recommend the Hotpot... More

I took my mum to the Peak District for a short hiking getaway in September. Staying at The Shady Oak was a great decision! The location for accessing the park itself was fantastic, and the staff were very attentive and helpful. Additionally, the rooms exceeded our expectations- they were stunning, with comfortable beds and gorgeous nature views from our window.... More

We visited here for a light lunch yesterday before heading off for a walk in the Goyt Valley. We ordered three sandwiches and two baked potatoes. We accepted the estimate of 30-40 minutes wait, but after an hour became a little restless. We were told they were very busy- we could see they were about half full. We were told... More

Called here with friends for Sunday lunch, the food and service was good. I had the roast beef sandwich which was very nice. My friends had fish chips and peas, which they said were very good. This is a nice pub that is very welcoming. This pub is also dog friendly, and I will walk to it with my cocker... More

We have been here today for a lovely meal and I can't say enough about this place, sat near to the open fire with such a relaxing atmosphere, from the great meals and desserts and we had a selection of different things to the warm and friendly staff and the added bonus of seeing Colin our friend whose bar we... Ok, so this is a pub! It has just 3 rooms. Room was basic with tea making and freeveiw tv however, beer and food were very good and the staff very friendly. Its a mile or two outside Whaley Bridge and the views are breathtaking. Its inexpensive and would much rather stay somewhere like this than a generic chain hotel.... More

We arrived late, but Dan was very welcoming and showed us to our room. We had the family room which was a great size and warm/cosy on a cold night (although bathroom isn't heated). The biscuits and water were a nice touch and the beds were very comfy. Even better than that was the delicious (and huge!) breakfast the next... More

Stopped off after a visit to Buxton where Sunday lunch options were limited. WOW! What a good move. Ordered the beef Sunday dinner. It is the best Sunday lunch ever. All the trimmings including roast parsnips, cauliflower cheese in a separate bowl and a big home made Yorkshire pudding. Food made with love. Will definitely be back.

situated just outside Buxton in the Peak District with views across the valley a welcoming pub. A good range of meals at realistic prices, we opted for the Sunday roast. There is a choice of 3 meats and the serving is quite big with several veg and two types of potatoes, all the trimmings and served piping hot. There was... More
