My husband and I stayed here in May during our usual trip to Halkirk to visit our children, we normally stay with them but now we have grandchildren thought it would be better and more peaceful to stay at a hotel, and what a Gem the Ulbster Arms is. We stayed in a beautiful room (premium) And were given a...

Ulbster Arms does not seem to have heard of disabled access.
Positives: The only restaurant in Caithness that cooks vegetables aldente so that they are edible. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Negatives: Limited menu choice for vegetarians and people with food intolerances. Chips were overdone and mushy inside, Boiled potatoes were inedible as far too overcooked. Inexperienced staff, although friendly,...

The Premium room more than suited our needs - however we had plumbing needs in the shower! Sadly we were woken in the early hours by a "party" in the kitchen below.......

I have always enjoyed coming here as the rooms are spacious and in a fresh modern style, the food is excellent and I love the location. This years visit has been even better with some new faces in the staff which has improved the service and the whole place has been freshened up! Well done to the team!

Stayed here for one night on a business trip in Jan 2012, I was moved to the Commercial hotel 500 yards up the road, the smell of paint was overwelming, the noise from the plumbing work was unbelievable and no wifi connections, i didnt expect any of the above.
The food in the main hotel was acceptable pub grub and...
