This was the last stop before finishing my Lands End to John o'Groats cycle ride. Their LEJOG Cabin was the best place I stayed on the whole journey - comfortable, warm, great food, lovely people, fantastic countryside.

The hotel has character and an interesting history. Friendly staff gave us a warm welcome on our five day visit for local loch fishing. Altnaharra is in a remote location surrounded by awesome landscapes.

Second visit here in two years. It's a beautiful remote setting, perfect for a relaxing break. The fishing is brilliant, as is the walking and I'm told the golf and stalking... The hotel itself is very welcoming, the rooms are beautiful, there is a great little bar and a more formal lounge. The bar food is limited in choice (due... More

The hotel is situated in what can only be described as an amazing location. On the Lands end to John O Groats route your last stopping point on the way northwards. Comfortable surroundings welcome you, without the pretension of a large hotel. If food, drink and refreshment is what you are after in this homely relaxing setting, then you could... More

A group of us stayed on at Altnaharra on a golfing trip. The hotel is in a good location to play a number of great links courses on the East coast of Scotland as well as venturing North to play a cracking course in Durness. You can play golf at Durness for a whole week for only £50 - how... More

Would just like to say a massive thank you to Duncan and Tracy and all the staff at the hotel for a wonderful stay. Different choice of local food every evening, great wine, breakfast to set me up for a days golf and of course a sore head after the whiskey tasting. What stunning views to wake up to and... More

Just returned from 4 terrific nights at the Altnaharra Hotel. The whole experience was amazing and we experienced the warmth and hospitality that you would expect of a big Scottish family home; Altnaharra is a very special hotel. The menu changed every day and was always exceptional. Altnaharra probably has one of the best chefs in The Highlands. The view... More

I took a group to the hotel on 12th September 2014 for a walking weekend. The hotel is the most convenient for the hills we were planning to climb and there really is very little choice beyond the Altnaharra. We found the hotel friendly, the service was good, the rooms were comfortable and we felt very much at home there.... More

Hubby has been coming here for years. I decided to go along this time. The hotel I remembered used to be old and fusty... not any more. !! I loved it so much we decided to stay an extra day, but unusually the weather was too good to fish !! The food was excellent. It has been a long time... More

I stayed in this hotel after the tragic death of a very close friend, this hotel showed nothing but compassion and looked after me and family with the utmost care and consideration. The warmth and service that they gave us was exceptional. I just wish I was able to experience this hotel under better circumstances as I know it would... More
