After short drive scenic drive from Thurso I arrived at the Altnaharra B&B and was greeted by the exceptionally friendly Maggie. Before I had even looked around I immediately felt welcomed into her residence and was at ease. To top it off, I was given some good coffee (at least four stars for that alone!) While I awaited my friends... More

Stayed here while cycle-touring in Northern Scotland. We arrived on a very windy, dull day. Our host Mandy immediately warmed our spirits with her welcome, as well as the coffee and biscuits she provided. We were delighted that we had booked an evening meal with her, which was great value and perfect for re-fueling us. Breakfast was also top-notch. We... More

In an otherwise fairly barren 100 miles, this place was a luxury. big fat chairs and sofas everywhere including the glassed in front porch where you can enjoy the 'outside' without the midgies! greeted with a fine tea service, then served a scrumptious home-cooked (and I believe butchered) venison lasagna. excellent baked apple dessert. rooms comfortable, the usual size of... We stayed only for one night on our way to the northern coast. In this place we got a cup of tea on arrival, a delicious 3 course supper for only 10pounds extra (vegetarian? No problem!) and detailled information on the many hikes that are possible in this part of the Highlands. Great value for money!

We arrived at this location, in June 2015, having completed a hard days cycling in heavy wind and rain. Within 5 minutes our clothes were in the washing machine and we were presented with a welcome cup of tea. Evening meal was excellent, as was the room. There is a very comfy lounge for guests with TV. In addition, if... More

A great welcome from Mandy who gave us tea, biscuits care and attention. She and Lindsay have got it just right. Our room was simple, but light and airy with a large bed. We had a delicious dinner a comfortable night and a great breakfast ready for my wife to set off to John'O'Groats in the morning. Some motorbikes had... More

After a 93 mile cycle ride from Wick, I was greeted with a tea and biscuits and a wonderful welcome from the owners, Mandy and Lindsay. As always, the room was comfortable and my chicken dinner was excellent. Highly recommended.

The room was basic and quite dated... No TV in the room but we were the only guests at the time and there is a sitting room with TV which we had to ourselves. The welcome when we arrived was great, fantastic hosts and the evening meal and breakfast was outstanding...could do with thick curtains in room as did not really...
