First of all in the interests of fairness I should disclose that I am a personal friend of the owners and paid a reduce price as a result. The hostel itself is set in stunning highland scenery and a lot of effort (and money) has been put into upgrading the site and amenities (I had previously stayed in 2007 when... More

Having been and stayed in Glencoe many times at the Clachaig Inn, Torren Cottages, The Red Squirrel and at the Clachaig Chalet, a group of us made the trip to Glencoe to give the Glencoe Independant Hostel a try, having booked sole occupancy of the bunkhouse. We were all pleasantly surprised with the accomodation, large enough for our group of... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed the local area. We had a warm welcome from the owner and were given helpful information on local walks and weather forecasts. There are many decent walks in the area and the local pub is a short walk for an evening pint/meal. We stayed here for 2 nights and it seemed... More

It's been nearly a year now since my friend and I stayed in the log cabin (Mar 2011). I write this now as I've just booked a return journey to stay in exactly the same spot. Without going on about the area too much (incredible, breathtaking blah blah, read the reviews) this log cabin was just perfect for 3 nights... More

The hostel is well located near the Claichaig Inn pub, in 15min walk, and has everything you would expect from a hostel, plus a drying room with dehumidifier to dry your stuff and keep the rooms clean. I left my boots in there and also my towel, but none got dry... The rooms have a code on the door, adding... More

After reading the lovely reviews I was excited to stay here- but I found the place disappointing. The facilities themselves were very good- the kitchen was well equip and the dining room was good- however, the lounge area was very close-knit, and if you don't want to talk to all your fellow residents, you couldn't share it. I had to... More

Hi Thanks for taking the time to post your review, we really do appreciate all of the feedback we get. I'm sorry you found our welcome disappointing, I think you did catch us at a bad time. Myself and Davina own, manage and run the business ourselves, with some cleaning assistance, and with 2 huge projects on the go too... More

I used Glencoe Independent Hostel to accommodate a group of over thirty for a week. We were whitewater kayaking in the Scottish Highlands, and the chose the hostel due to it's value and location - close to the Coe (obviously) and the Etive. We made the right choice. The owner was extremely helpful and friendly throughout correspondence, and was very... More

HI Thanks for your very comprehensive review. We enjoyed having you here and are glad you found our facilities useful, especially the drying room! We have managed to get wifi into the reception porch so have access there now. As time allows we will look at extending the service as far throughout the site as we can. Thanks again Keith... More

This hostel was fabulous and gave us the rest we needed. For Americans, I think the restroom accomodations really topped off the visit - the first time I was able to enjoy a strong and cleansing shower without feeling cramped. Our hosts were friendly and kept a clean and tidy environ. I liked the touch of having various games around.... More

My wife and I stayed in the Cabin for two nights in the first week of October 2010. The cabin was very clean and tidy. It lived up to our expectations, everything you needed was there, shower/bathroom, very well equiped kitchen, gas cooker and oven, Microwave, toaster, kettle, everything right down to cuttlery. The bed and bedding was extremely comfortable.... More

Myself and my partner went to Glencoe to explore the Fort William area. We used the Hostel as a base and we totally enjoyed it. We had the cabin to ourselves- even though cabin is not the right word- you could name it a little wooden paradise. Keith welcomed us very friendly, giving us advises on walks around the place,...
