First visit for lunch last Saturday. Arrived interested, left as converts. Difficult to fault any aspect - not five stars because we don't use the fifth. The two of us deliberately chose different dishes and shared, and the standard was the same for all - very good indeed. This is a place that really respects good quality ingredients. We have... More

My partner and I have always went to Barley Bree on special occasions as we have found the food and wine to be of exceptional quality and Fabrice is a top class chef. So, big disappointment for us on Saturday night. My partner had the sea bass, which was excellent and the noodles served with it were delicious. However, I... More

My husband and I recently purchased a package to attend the Ryder Cup in Scotland from Executive Golf and Leisure. One of the hotels to choose from was the 6 room Barley Bree about 15 minutes from Gleneagles Resort/ Ryder Cup. We are extremely happy to have stayed there. Alison Bouteloup and her husband Fabrice are perfect hosts. He cooks... More

Excellent and interesting food, fine wine and a very comfortable night's sleep followed by a good quality breakfast. The staff were most welcoming, service was excellent and the ambience of the public areas provides both charm and a comfortable environment in which to relax.

We were taken to the Barley Bree by friends, and firstly this is not a hotel as such, but rather, a restaurant with rooms. I will be making no comment on it as an hotel but as a restaurant. Our greeting was friendly and the tone of the meal was set by the linen napkins which graced the table. The... More

Friends took my wife and I here for our silver wedding meal and we stayed in the rooms at the Barley Bree overnight. I cannot comment on cost as we were being treated. The room was sufficiently sized and very comfortable and quiet. The lounge area of the hotel is attractive and relaxing and the service efficient and friendly while... More

We finally got round to using a voucher we had been given as a Christmas present and booked the Superior room for our dinner, bed and breakfast stay. The room was very large and a dance could have been held in the bathroom. Despite the room being on a corner overlooking the main road, noise was minimal. Pre-dinner drinks in... More

What a wonderful restaurant in the pretty conservation village of Muthill in rural Perthshire. We were a family of two grandparents, our daughter and her husband and our two teenaged grandchildren visiting for Sunday lunch on 31st August. Outside the warm sun shone and indoors it was matched by the friendly smiling faces of welcome from the restaurant staff. We... More

Having read the reviews I was expecting a little more. Our double room was quite compact as was the bathroom. There was not enough room for two of us to get dressed at the same time. My husband was pleased with his breakfast both mornings but as a toast lover I was very disappointed, the toast was thin and brittle... More

Came here for lunch after a recommendation from a friend. As a party of 4 we selected most things on the menu and swapped them around so we could all get a flavour of what was on offer. The venison on the menu was sold out and replaced with a beef dish that was utterly melt in the mouth gorgeous!... More
