We finally got round to using a voucher we had been given as a Christmas present and booked the Superior room for our dinner, bed and breakfast stay. The room was very large and a dance could have been held in the bathroom. Despite the room being on a corner overlooking the main road, noise was minimal. Pre-dinner drinks in... More

What a wonderful restaurant in the pretty conservation village of Muthill in rural Perthshire. We were a family of two grandparents, our daughter and her husband and our two teenaged grandchildren visiting for Sunday lunch on 31st August. Outside the warm sun shone and indoors it was matched by the friendly smiling faces of welcome from the restaurant staff. We... More

Having read the reviews I was expecting a little more. Our double room was quite compact as was the bathroom. There was not enough room for two of us to get dressed at the same time. My husband was pleased with his breakfast both mornings but as a toast lover I was very disappointed, the toast was thin and brittle... More

Came here for lunch after a recommendation from a friend. As a party of 4 we selected most things on the menu and swapped them around so we could all get a flavour of what was on offer. The venison on the menu was sold out and replaced with a beef dish that was utterly melt in the mouth gorgeous!... More

For the price and star rating I was expecting more than we received. Good shower but dim lighting in the ensuite. The bedroom was clean but basic. Bedding was comfy. It is advertised as a superkingsized bed, reality was two single beds together which was very uncomfortable and this is what spoilt the stay!! There was only one waitress on... More

This is not a "flash" restaurant, nor was bedroom 5, and neither is Muthill. However we were comfortable, happy, and well fed at dinner, less so at breakfast. The (rear) outside tables for our evening drink in the sun were a good start. Lots of pleasant staff at dinner time (but we never met the owners throughout the one night... More

We spent one night at Barley Bree restaurant with rooms to celebrate my partner’s birthday. The accolades of other reviewers are not misplaced: Barley Bree is well up with the best restaurants we have ever been to – well on a par with Michelin stared establishments. The building is a very attractively maintained age-old coaching inn. The staff are friendly... More

"The Restaurant with rooms" establishment seems to be an increasingly popular genre and for good reason. After good food and wine, driving elsewhere is not a viable option - for a single traveller like myself at least. Barley Bree has both a super restaurant with good choices of well thought out and cooked dishes, plus very comfortable accommodation at a... More

Great room with comfy beds. But the best thing is of course the restaurant which is really fantastic. The chef is highly acclaimed and that is apparant in all the details of the dishes. We loved every bite! Breakfast was great too and the staff really attentive! Thank you!

This was a weekend we had wanted to take for a while. We stayed over two nights and had a very relaxed weekend. A lot of This was due to the low key but efficient service by the staff. We hat a corner room which met all our needs. We ate in the Restaurant both nights as this was the... More
