This year we visited the same cottage for the fourth year running. It is a lovely, secluded little place with the most amazing views. it is perfect for outdoor campfires with a wee dram, total peace and quiet. the island itself is beautiful, lots of walking and climbing (if you're up for it) or great for a gentle stroll. The... More

This is a fairly large holiday island off Ardnamurchan at the mouth of Loch Moidart and the River Shiel, between the mainland and inner Hebrides. There are half a dozen cottages and a big house, but there's no reason you'll see anyone else unless you want to. There are no roads, no cars (you leave yours safely on the mainland),... More

Spent a week on this beautiful little island with my wife & our 2 border collies. We stayed in Red cottage, which had the most stunning views out of the window out onto the Loch. The cottage itself was old world charm itself and somewhat quaint & a little twee. It was very comfortable & had a wonderful coal fired... More

This was my husband's 50th birthday present and something he has wanted to do for several years, so I booked it (very simple and easy) and off we went, with our 2 dogs We have never done self catering before as we do like our luxury, but we loved it, every moment. Bedroom is a good size with a very... More

Great to get away from it al - no phone, internet (unless required), tv or traffic' Very comfortable and peaceful. Great scenery, particularly from the top of the main hill and a variety of walks across unspoilt land. Woodpeckers, golden and sea eagles and more cuckoos than I have ever heard.Deer and otters. Disappointed not to see a pine marten... More

Lovely view from house and food was very good. Downside was that it was very basic living. If you want a luxury holiday this isn't it. Nevertheless a great experience. Totally cut off from the outside world! Just a big old house on and island in the middle of nowhere!

Dear Enginemaker Thank you for taking the time to post your review. We are not sure you have the correct property as we have not had a wedding on Shona for over 2 years and it is self-catering, we do not provide any food - both things you have mentioned in your review. We welcome constructive criticism but I'm afraid... More

This was a fantastic family holiday and despite the weather not being on our side, we still had a wonderful time. The staff were amazing, extremely helpful and full of information about the wildlife and local area. We were lucky enough to see Pine Martens, Red Deer and Falcons during our stay. Make sure you take plenty of supplies and... More

Fantastic stay. Holiday for wildlife and complete relaxing. The team couldn't do enough for us. Would recomend you pack for all weather, including sun. Can't wait to return. Fullly equipt kitchen so no need to take anything. Good walking boots are a must. We stayed in tioram and the views were spetacular. Regularly visits from deer and otters.

This is my third visit to the island - the first two times staying at Eilean Shona House and this time in Tioram Cottage. Eilean Shona House is so warm and welcoming - with fabulous personal touches like roll top baths and luxurious beds to sink into at night. I particularly love its creative feel, with it's impressive art collection,... More

I stayed at South Shore Cottage this April, looking for somewhere right on the sea offering lots of peace and quiet. This was the perfect place. Having stayed in a nearby bothy last autumn it took a day or so to adjust to just how comfortable the cottage is - spacious, simply decorated, but with the most beautiful bathroom! I... More
