nice setting, service from clearly inexperienced staff poor drinks were a disaster! maim course took an hour, was nice but over priced for what it was, new menu should not be an excuse to put prices up, obviously the extensive works are being paid for from the profits. disappointed as I liked this as a special treat place. need to... We stayed for two nights, very friendly staff and nice room. Room clean with comfortable bed and nicely furnished. Food was very good, scallop starter was excellent but salmon main a bit overcooked, very nice sweet. Breakfast standard fare with quick service. We will go back again given our experience.

Having previously been to other hotels on cheap deals and been treated like 2nd class citizens we were delighted not to have been treated any differently to other guests on our Amazon local deal. The staff at the Whistlefield are very welcoming and friendly - value for money it was excellent. Normally the complimentary wine with dinner is not good... More

went to Whistlefield Inn for 2 nights midweek at the end of March. Overall a very good experience. The Inn is in a lovely position overlooking Loch Eck and you can go walking directly from the hotel. Benmore gardens are very handy and you can spend a day there alone. The room was small but very comfortable. Spotlessly clean and... More

The views are stunning and the food is the best food I've ever had in a hotel (Ive stayed in hundreds). The only... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Whistlefield Inn, an old drovers inn, originally built in 1663, is both satisfyingly remote and yet within easy reach of civilization. It is only 12 miles from the bustling town of Dunoon, but a glance at a map will tell you that we sit in splendid isolation halfway up Loch Eck.The inn is situated in both Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park and Argyll Forest Park and is, therefore, ideally placed for a host of outdoor activities.Available right on your doorstep are leisure & hill walking, deer stalking, freshwater salmon & trout fishing (we have historic riparian rights on Loch Eck), bird watching, boating and cycling. The stunning Benmore Gardens and the scenic forestry walks of Puck's Glen are only 5 minutes away. Within 15 minutes drive you will find golf, sea angling, sailing and rock climbing plus the new Holy Loch Marina. The more adventurous might like to check out locally available quad-biking, archery and clay-pigeon shooting. ... more   less
