Have stayed here before and will definitely be returning. Rooms are nicely decorated - quite small, but that's to be expected in an inn. Bed was comfortable. Room and ensuite were immaculate . Only downside was a buzzing noise that I think came from the kitchen's extractor fan but this did not, in any way, spoil our stay. Staff are... More

We stayed in Whistlefield Inn for 2 nights in January with an Amazon local deal. It was so good we returned in, April and June 2014. The food including breakfast is amongst the best my wife and I have ever experienced in any hotel including the 4 and 5 star major chains. The staff are lovely and the bar Area... More

We stayed Wed 30th July 2014 for 4 nights. We had tickets for the Commonwealth Games and as the hotels in Glasgow were sold out we decided to stay in the lochs area above Glasgow. We were in one of 2 rooms added to the rear of the Inn, both with a view over the Loch. It suited our purpose... More

We were greeted warmly and enthusiastically by two staff members who were friendly and genuine. We received a surprising upgrade to the rooms we booked which meant we had a lovely view onto the Loch. The rooms very nicely presented, clean and there had been some recent work in the bathroom which meant we had a great shower in there.... More

My family and I stayed two nights in this charming inn set in an absolutely beautiful location. The rooms were nicely decorated and the bathrooms surprisingly modern. However, the best thing about the Whistlefield was the staff - especially Jodie and Pete. They made us feel completely welcome. I would definitely stay there again.

The Inn is set in a stunning area of mountains and lochs, with Loch Eck being especially attractive and romantic. The staff were very welcoming and attentive, the food was excellent with a varied and special evening menu and a first-class breakfast. Everything was very clean and comfortable and our only reservation was that the bedroom we had was rather... More

Staff were really helpful and customer focused. Food in the restaurant was really good. Setting and scenery are stunning. We stayed in room 1 which is in the eves, small with a low ceiling. Drone from extractor fan spoilt our first night which would otherwise have been an excellent nights sleep. To be fair, this was rectified by the staff... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Whistlefield Inn, an old drovers inn, originally built in 1663, is both satisfyingly remote and yet within easy reach of civilization. It is only 12 miles from the bustling town of Dunoon, but a glance at a map will tell you that we sit in splendid isolation halfway up Loch Eck.The inn is situated in both Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park and Argyll Forest Park and is, therefore, ideally placed for a host of outdoor activities.Available right on your doorstep are leisure & hill walking, deer stalking, freshwater salmon & trout fishing (we have historic riparian rights on Loch Eck), bird watching, boating and cycling. The stunning Benmore Gardens and the scenic forestry walks of Puck's Glen are only 5 minutes away. Within 15 minutes drive you will find golf, sea angling, sailing and rock climbing plus the new Holy Loch Marina. The more adventurous might like to check out locally available quad-biking, archery and clay-pigeon shooting. ... more   less
