This weekend was a dream come true sleeping in a four poster bed with Egyptian cotton sheets that felt like silk. Waking up in one of the 6 most tastefully designed bedrooms, I have ever seen . We spent 4 nights and 3 days in luxury in the hoose of Airlie, from the well furnished castle kitchen to the beautiful... More

We celebrated our friend's 65th birthday here on a self catering basis. Wow!!! what a good choice. It fitted the bill perfectly in all aspects. We had fabulous weather and every one did their own thing during the day and then came together on each of the three evenings for drinks and a meal hosted in rotation. The facilities were... More

Many moons ago we stayed with our adored Bernese Mountain Dog, Tess in a sister property not far from 'The Keep'. We had a magical week in the cosy Bothy for two, waiting each evening for the deer to come down to drink from the Burn....Bliss! Dorothy kindly gave us a tour of the Castle on the Monday Morning, as... More

We booked Forter Castle for 7 nights for the second week of August 2014. We stayed there with 10 guests, consisting of family and closest friends. We stayed Friday to Friday but had planned our wedding mid week on Tuesday, the 'Glorious 12th'. What a fabulous time we had through-out. The castle is absolutely amazing with great rooms, the highest... More

We visited Forter Castle as part of a group for a family wedding and had an absolutely wonderful time. The castle itself is beautiful and decorated in a way that feels appropriate to the setting. Yes there are a lot of spiral stairs (especially when you're in the top room as we were) but hey, it's an old castle, we... More

Stunning views of the peaceful Scottish countryside. Quiet, pastoral, fabulous hiking. This castle is perfectly situated for a dream holiday. Lovingly appointed with personal photos made me feel like family. Gorgeous beds to sink into. Newly remodeled bathrooms with "rain" showers. Stunning great hall with hand-stenciled ceiling. Complete kitchen. The castle was built in the 1500s, burned in 1640 and... More

This is a real castle complete with stone everywhere and a giant great room with huge fireplace. A few technical issues were quickly overcome by our host. The staff cook prepared an incredible meal of langoustines (half crawfish half lobster creature) and haggis as the distant baa of sheep could be heard over the (very) late summer sunset. The facilities... More

Stunning on approach...stunning inside..everything you expect a 600+ year old castle to be. So sympathetically renovated. ..Yes the spiral stairs are narrow. .but that is exactly how they were..check Glamis Castle and you see the same. Peaceful..views to die for. Lovely to see the fact it is a family home in the photos etc. It is a real castle, with... More

We got married at Forter Castle in August this year and were truly blown away by the experience! Living in Devon and not having visited Forter Castle prior to our big day, we were a lightly apprehensive about what to expect but we certainly need not have been as everything was perfect! The castle is in a truly stunning location... More

12 of us stayed there for a week and couldn't have loved it more. breathtaking views. all the rooms are beautifully decorated in keeping with a property like this. The only downside was the overbearing amount of family photos. on one day, to celebrate my father-in-laws 70th birthday we had a chef come to the castle and cook for us... More
