Just along the road from the local hospital, the Lamb & Flag is a fab' stop off between visiting times. Lots of space, inside and out, and a consistently enjoyable menu. I love to move between the thoughtfully arranged, comfortable spaces and just take an enjoyable break. A rather ingenious friend even negotiated to temporarily leave her hospital bed for... More

We have been regulars at the lamb and flag for many years and was very sad to hear that Charlotte was leaving but she's back and the service she provides is out of this world the rest of the staff need to watch and learn. If you want 5* service go to the lamb and flag and hope that she... More

Good value rooms, our second visit here. Friendly staff. Nice Welsh breakfast and lovely steak pie and chilli pot for dinner. Good beer. Beautiful view of sugar loaf mountain from room (5?) Bizarre choice of channels on TV (no BBC) but I imagine the mountain blocks the signal, or maybe a Welsh eccentricity :)

We visited this pub for lunch after driving past it a few weeks ago!! Very nice staff and food was very very nice... Quantity and quality were both in this case... I would advise getting there early as it can get very busy very fast. Well recommend this little pub..

We ate and stayed the night at the Lamb and Flag after taking a day hike up to the top of Sugar Coate Mountain. You get what you pay for when it comes to rooms. It's simple. We did appreciate the fact that breakfast was included and we had a decent evenings meal. Nothing out of this world, but good... More

Poor service dirty tables and food to match! We were told that there would be a half an hour to 45 minute wait for food as the kitchen was busy. The table we sat at had not been cleaned nor was it despite me asking. The food took the 45 minutes that was promised and then tasted as if it... More

It is many years since visiting the Hotel. It is very clean and plenty of room around the tables so not squashed together, However there is a fundamental issue, either a shortness of staff for the number of tables and the number of covers. Or staff that were poorly trained. Or perhaps so poorly paid they did not care! We... More

A lovely pub with good food and good portion sizes... A warm welcoming atmosphere suitable for families as well as friends and couples. A good size car park with plenty of room.. I will come again next time I'm in town..

We had planned to eat in the 3 Horseshoes in Brecon but it was closed after our walk along the nearby Monmouthshire canal so we headed towards Abergavenny and stumbled across The Lamb and Flag Inn run by Brains. We're glad we did. It was about 1600 on a Wednesday and my daughter, wife and I sat down to eat.... More
