When walking in all we smelt was old chip fat and the bar staff seemed rather unfriendly. We looked at the menu but we we so put off my the smell we left... shame as it the pub looked lovely from the outside.

As for your comment about the staff doesn't seem like you gave them much chance to be friendly instead you go on here and write a horrible comment I would love to have the chance to speak to you to find out more... This is a small hotel in the middle of a village and is dated from 1800's. Due to its age it has quirky rooms. The room we had was quaint, it was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was really good. The food in the restaraunt was great, especially the Steaks. It is good value for money. Jackie, the owner, and all... More

Excellent venue for a family get together for great Sunday lunch, which was superbly home cooked and well presented. Both the Beef and Lamb were perfect, melting in the mouth and served with great gravy. The medley of root vegetables, Cheesy leeks and new potatoes were also cooked to perfection. The wine list is comprehensive but not overly expensive and... More

We have visited The |Talbot many times and have never been disappointed. Very friendly , welcoming staff, exceptionally high quality of good food and real ales. All at a reasonable price. There is a most comfortable lounge and restraint and dogs are welcome in the bar area.Even the locals are friendly. They have a well kept terraced garden area which... More

Rooms were a decent size and clean. Was quite busy as was over Christmas period, however rooms blocked out most noise. Staff were welcoming and nice. Shower pressure in a bit poor, but to be expected for an old building. Breakfast was generous and has a decent variation of foods. If you are tall, watch out for the low beams... More

When to our Christmas party at this venue this weekend. The 3 course meal was excellent value and all eight of us enjoyed the food from the starters to the desserts. My choice of breaded brie, roast beef, and chocolate torte. Was excellent

Was disappointed with an evening meal here. Had roast vegetable lasagne with garlic bread. The plate wasn't hot and so the food cooled quickly. The garlic bread had a congealed pool of butter on. The Eton mess for dessert however was delicious having the addition of blueberries in. I feel the restaurant area could benefit from a more subdued light.... More

hi thank you for your comment I am sorry your plate wasn't hot but all plates for main meals are kept in a hot cupboard so I don't know how this happened but I will make staff aware of checking tempertures of plates before going out. I'm sorry you weren't happy with your garlic bread you should of sent it... More

Have no idea what sort of hotel it is, but enjoyed a very well priced Sunday lunch there this week. Didn't like being in the back room on our own because no atmosphere, but the food was lovely and plentiful. We are dining there with a large party in 3 weeks so wanted to just check it out. It is...
