Booked this place via Amazon local. 2 nights b&b for £79 so for the price we paid, we really had no complaints. We arrived on Friday and had a friendly welcome. We were given a four poster room with lovely view. The bathroom has been refurbished. The decor in the main room was just a little dated although kept clean.... More

Arrived Friday evening and had meal in the large Resturant that was quite empty and not much atmosphere. Basic food and not that impressed but the Spanish waiter was working hard to serve and prepare food on his own. Trying his best. We Had an early night. Room. 11. Nice decor and bright and open. A bit noisy as it... More

My partner and I have just returned from a weekend at the Rat Trap. Based upon the experience, I would normally have given a 3 stars rating, however Matt and his small team of new staff are trying hard to lift the service levels and bring the basic offering up to a better level, that I think they deserve 4... Just returned from great 2 night break at the Rat Trap. Very nice rooms, with views of the hills.Front of house man, Matthew and his staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for our party of six. The location is ideal for exploring Usk and the surrounding area. We would definitely visit again!!

The pub entrance didn’t look encouraging, with large numbers of cigarette butts scattered around or tossed into wet plant pots. But the interior was much better, with several comfy chairs and a log fire. We obtained our key from the grumpy guy who seemed to be the manager. And receptionist, barman, waiter and just about everything else. Rooms in pubs... More

Food by night is ok ....... No chips/daphionuise/mash/fries....just fatty wedges, sold as 'double cooked chips' NO CHIPS IN SIGHT! Breakfast is as expected, cheap bacon & sausages .... Have to.ask for a fried egg & get scorned for doing so! help yourself all else (which is ok for the cost) but you can't help but thinking that you're an inconvenience... More

The hotel is clean and well run and you have everything that you need, but none of the little 'extras' that make you want to go back. I like small hotels because of the personal touches. This is almost completely lacking in this hotel. The staff were generally efficient and the food good but I was left feeling like a punter... More

Just listened to my wife speaking with a man with a London accent who I presume is the manager. We had booked to stay for the night (paying the standard price) in June. My wife then noticed an offer for a meal deal on the Living Social site. Before purchasing the voucher she telephoned the pub and asked if she... More

It is with a doubt beyond belief that I've read this today you did indeed make a room booking around 6 weeks ago a deal came out yesterday for food but clearly states that it cannot be used with existing bookings which I'm pretty sure your booking falls into this category you were informed this then were extremely rude then... We stayed here for two nights on an Amazon deal in late April 2015 and were pretty happy with our stay. The room (number 5) was comfortable but unfortunately it suffered from noise from the room above so we would go back but only if we could have an upstairs room. The upstairs bed creaked, as did the floorboards so... More
