We discovered this pub by accident and very pleased that we did. If travelling by car you do need to trust the sat nav. Its more than worth it, its a friendly pub with open fires for the winter, stone floor and walls. The menu looks great, unfortunately we were eating elsewhere that evening, so couldn't try the food. The... More

We are walking Offa's Dyke and our B&B recommended this pub for the evening meal. Wonderful atmosphere, great beer (and good choices), a nice of range of food options - our steak and ale pie was the best we have had. I'd be happy to have the same again tomorrow if we were staying. It's just a really nice pub.

The Hunters Moon has always been a great pub. The new management are really welcoming and the atmosphere in the bar is what you would expect from a local country pub. The beer is good and the choice of beer includes local beers. I went over for a drink once with a friend and we were both impressed so we... More

The Hunters Moon Pub is a real gem, its food is delicious, the beer is great and the welcome you get makes you feel at home immediately. This is a real pub, not a plastic pub. We visited the Hunters Moon in February this year whilst helping our son and daughter in- law move in to their new house in... More

Hadn't been back to this pub for 30-odd years because I couldn't remember its name or location. Finally discovered it again ..... What a great place! The location, deep in the folds of Monmouthshire countryside, makes it a classic example of the British (Welsh!) country pub. Clearly a genuine community pub for locals, it's family run - plus the food... More

I will begin this review by saying that although I found the food to be disappointing they did manage to provide a table for 9 of us with only a days notice. However, I found the lunch menu disappointing. The chips were like normal oven french fries, the steak lacked seasoning and the desserts tasted like they had been reheated... More

Had many a happy stay here when Haydn had it but sadly the new owners don't allow dogs. Shame on a country pub........................................................probably as good as ever if you don't have a dog - not likely to find out

Our third visit (and second stop over) to the Moon since it changed hands, its quite an unique experience, maybe not for everyone, but if you like to engage and be welcomed into a proper pub then you will enjoy. Good choice of drinks and food, we both ate in the evening, massive portion and very tasty. I only wish... More

We had to nights in their outstanding lodgings. The Staff worked hard to give us, and the other customers an experience for life! In the evenings the locals created the atmosphere of a wholesome pub in the welsh countryside.

Went for a drink on friday night - great pint of Hay Valley something or other - so impressed we returned for lunch on Sunday. Apparently it was their first roast of the winter season - just like a home cooked meal only better ... wonderful veg, great potatoes, good roast, reasonable price. Lovely staff too. Wish it was my... More
