This 17th Century boutique hotel is a great place to relax. The staff are very helpful and friendly, though I did not hear one Welsh accent! The rooms are individual, each one named after a fishing fly and the key fobs are wooden fish. March Brown room was really clean and comfortable with individual furniture and the bathroom was clean,... More

We had a night out here, dinner bed and breakfast. Excellent service, very good food and choice with open fires to relax by. Very good kir royal and nice wine list at reasonable prices. Breakfast was well set up for a "full breakfast", could do with some pastries and nuts for the continental breakfast

Together with our friends we booked two standard rooms for one night to include dinner. The hotel is beautifully situated with river views or country views. We were the only residents that night and found our rooms rather cold as windows were left open and heating was not switched on until we arrived. This was a poor way to arrive after a four... Having moved into the area recently and having heard some excellent reviews of The Bell I went for Sunday lunch with my family today. From the outside the place looks friendly and inviting and has a superb location next to the river and bridge. Almost as soon as we stepped inside we were greeted in a very friendly and welcoming... Just returned from a splendid night's stay at The Bell, and was impressed with the welcome the staff gave me together with the very spacious well appointed room I was allocated. The bed was very comfortable, and the reading lights were better than most I have experienced in hotels recently. The room was beautifully decorated and thoroughly well equipped. I... More

We stayed for two nights in a family room and completely agree with the previous review. We were very disappointed with the food both nights and at breakfast, and this ruined our stay. My husband 's steak and potatoes were both burnt and then they served chilled cheese with mouldy celery. At breakfast we had undercooked boiled eggs and burnt... More

When I last visited I was unimpressed with the food.Today I was very impressed with the food. The service was a little slow and the place seemed understaffed but the food was good enough to guarantee a return. It has changed hands and I wish it well.We had for starters 3 large beautiful scallops,a seared pigeon breast and roast fig and cheese... The location is lovely - our room, coachman, overlooked the river and bridge. It was spacious, comfortable, large bed and bathroom with excellent toiletries. The outdoor area is very pleasant in good weather, and the dining, bar and lounge areas are good. We were very disappointed with the food, which has got worse every time - we stayed here three... We stayed in the Blue Dunn, total disappointment, why would you overlook the comfort of the mattress- we have never stayed anywhere with such a bad quality mattress, the floor would have been more comfortable. We were very disappointed, we had booked a couple of nights stay but only stayed the one. On our return home we emailed the Bell... More

Location is perfect, close by the castle, the historic church, the river, and overlooking at the back a sheep-dotted hillside and gardens. The room we had booked, at the front, was disappointing, having rather tired furniture apart from the attractive four-poster, and a dismal bathroom with a shower/tub combo. The helpful receptionist, Tara, willingly helped us move to a room... More
