Will be returning for a weekend break. Our one night stay was excellent with a great room and excellent evening meal. Breakfast was great as well but would be better if it was serves a little earlier on week days. Beautiful spot with lots to do locally for anyone who enjoys the outdoors

Everything we expected for our one weekend a year away from the children... the Bell delivers a subtle combination of quality, service, and originality. The food was excellent presented by committed, helpful staff; the wine list represented good value. The discreet 'homely' atmosphere makes this hotel feel comfortable, warm and relaxed. The veg patch by the way still very much... More

Well worth the trip, a beautiful location and very relaxing, Very nice food great value and quality kids food. Only downside my wife thought a stuffed pepper main course lacked a bit of flavour. Waiting staff also lovely

Living in Bristol, I found this hotel to be the perfect weekend get-away. The drive was pleasant and the hotel perfect. I stayed for two nights in a delightfully palatial room. The service was exemplary, the food delicious and the wine list astounding. I am going to use this hotel regularly as an escape from work, traffic and stress.

The Bell is the perfect place to stay for a few days break to 'get away from it all'. Skenfrith is a tiny picturesque village on the River Monnow with its own medieval castle and charming church. My husband and I enjoy walking and The Bell has 6 tried and tested routes which take you through miles of picturesque countryside.... More

After visiting The Bell in previous years we were very disappointed in our recent visit as the standards have dropped significantly. The rooms were still the same but the servicing was not good - face-cloths, biscuits, toilet rolls, etc were not replenished. The rooms were also very hot due to heated pipes that couldn't be turned off. The biggest disappointment... More

I too was very disappointed to read your review and frankly struggle to recognise some of your criticisms as pertaining to us. Any issues concerning your room would have been instantly attended to had you brought it to our attention. Sometimes an inadvertent "do not disturb" sign prevents the Housekeeping staff from their duties which they take very seriously indeed.... More

My wife and I stayed at the Bell on a Sunday night recently, when returning home at the end of a motoring holiday in Ireland. We were allocated Room 4, for which were charged £170 B&B. We had reserved a table for dinner in advance of our arrival, to celebrate the end of our holiday. The Bell is ideally located,... More

Dear Skipper38, I'm sorry you were disappointed by the menu on the Sunday you stayed with us. We introduced the all day Sunday menu a few months ago to allow for a more relaxed Sunday lunch to linger over and it has proven very popular. It's not therefore true to describe this as "Sunday lunch leftovers" as we cook meat,... More

We loved this hotel and our room! It was the most beautiful loft room, beautifully decorated we only stayed one night and also dined here. The rooms are well decorated in modern country style and food was good quality pub food and the terrace at the back was a lovely spot to have a drink in the late afternoon sunshine.... More

My fiancé and I were looking for a quiet country weekend getaway. He is located in the UK, and I am still in the States. After a few days in Cardiff, this was the perfect contrast. The Inn is lovely and updated, across the street from a castle. The food at the restaurant was delicious, and the wine list was... More
