This so-called Rural Hotel, a stop on our walking tour of the Costa Brava was a very special surprise. We arrived on foot, navigating through the old stone streets of this small village. Once through the door every discovery was a pleasant one. Our room looked out onto the quiet, narrow cobbled street with floor to ceiling shuttered windows. Within... More

This inn is a gem. Beautiful design throughout and offers a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere both in your room and in the spacious common areas. The facility is very clean and well maintained. Great breakfast with a full variety of meats, cheeses, bread, cereals, juices, and hot beverages such as the now common pod/coffee machine, etc. I particularly enjoyed the... More

This was our final stay after a weeks’ worth of walking along the coast starting at L’Escala and finishing here. And, I would have to say this was a nice hotel in which to end the week, if not the nicest. Appearances are deceptive here and what looks like a small hotel down a quiet street turns out to be... We loved this place! A beautifully restored building with very modern and comfortable rooms. The lounge at the back was a nice place to sit and relax and the back balcony had a great view of the church bell tower. The evening meal was delicious with local wine and home cooking. A very friendly and welcoming experience in a beautiful... More

Wonderful establishment in an absolutely beutiful area. The owner, Merce, is simply wonderful, warm, and accomodating. As someone who was traveling alone, on-foot, and not speaking the local dialect, having Merce's knowledge of the area and willingness to help was extremely comforting. In addition to providing information about hiking paths and local points of interest, she and her family also... More

We stayed for a week at Niu de Sol at the end of September and had a wonderful time. Modern, comfortable rooms in an old building, helpful staff and owner, nice fresh breakfasts with fresh fruit, breads and cured ham on the bone. It is handy for the local sights and the sea. There are plenty of restaurants in the... More

We weren't certain what to expect of something called a 'rural hotel.' What we found inside was a very interesting mix of a sophisticated hotel with lots of touches to make you feel welcome and at home. There is a large common area divided into a comfortable lounge area along with the dining area and up another few stairs a... More

This was a gorgeous place to stay - off the beaten track for sure, but so close to the beaten track that you don't feel like you're missing anything. On the contrary, the proprietor, Merce, is such a giving, warm, happy person, sharing her knowledge of the region, what to do, where to go, where to eat, that you'll have... More

We spent just two nights here in Niu de Sol and maybe it should have been more. This cute little hotel is tucked away in the centre of a sleepy but very well situated village - close to the Cap de Creus Natural Park, Cadaques, Port de la Selva and Roses (though I personally wouldn't recommend the latter). The village... More

It started badly and improved a great deal. There was no one on the front desk when we arrived tired out after an all day wedding the day before. The hotel was locked at the front but we managed to enter via the back and a guest told us someone was around. The owners Mum eventually showed us to a... More
