The island of San Salvador is small and there are very few places to stay. It has been on our to dive list for some time and we finally made it there. Aside from rentable villas there are three hotels on the island. Club Med, a small place on the east side of the island , catering to wind surfers... More

Took my husband for a shark diving vacation for his upcoming birthday and we stayed at this family owned resort. It was wonderful to take a vacation that felt so personal and not so corporate. The first day the "family" knew our names. The all inclusive resort offered 3 meals a day and they were some of the best meals... More

Dear Bonnie: We are so glad Riding Rock was able to be part of your husbands birthday vacation. Diving, dining and from the pictures it looks like some Bone Fishing as well. Perfect combination. We're glad you appreciated the food - especially the eggs. You can ask to "sneak" into the kitchen next time so you can find out the... More

I have to say I was completely taken back by the pleasing atmosphere, service and overall experience that my wife and I had over the last week we spent here. The diving service and diving experiences were exceptional. I found that Michelle, Angela, Kevin, Peaches, Tyler, and Captain Bruce, as well as the rest of the staff made sure our... More

Dear Jay & Bonnie: Thank you for your kind words. Family life is a very important part of most Bahamians lives, and we at Riding Rock work hard to "extend" the family fold to include all of our staff and guests. So welcome to the family and please come see us again! More

We don't dive, so we're actually not catered to by this hotel. However, a few things apply, whether you dive or not. This place certainly has kind of a quirky charme, but it is really worn. It is only kept up in parts, other parts seem to decay and it has never been a fancy place. Food was OK but... More

Guten Tag! Terbang we are sorry to hear your vacation experience was less than you had hoped for. We are and do present ourselves as a very modest resort, "quirky" not something we use in our marketing materials but certainly not a bad thing to be! But we generally get rave reviews in the posts about the food, which is... More

My wife did a marine biology course on the Island of San Salvador in here college years and dreamed of going back since. 11 years later she talked me into it (not that it took any arm bending). This review is overdue as we stayed back in October 13. No complaints what so ever. The resort puts family first and... More

Dear Drewtrip: You can move in any time, since the "Inn" as the saying goes - is always open! We are so glad you enjoyed so many aspects of your stay, and love that you got that "family first" vibe right from the start. It would not be a stretch to consider that for our marketing tag line! We all... More

As soon as we arrived, we felt right at home. We had a large group and they treated us like family. They were very accommodating for our special requests and the food was amazing. The boat captains and dive masters brought on the dives we wanted to do and gave us great flexibility in what dive profiles we wanted to... More

Dear Mark: Our thanks to you and your group for coming to stay at Riding Rock. You could pay no higher compliment than you did by saying you felt at home like part of the family. That is what the Williams family is all about and has been since their father operated the property back in the 1960s. So glad... More

Key Focus for visiting San Salvador Bahamas is diving and high sea fishing. Philosophy of eat, sleep, dive. The dive Operation is good, offers all you need. Relaxing easy diving, do not expect any sensations. Hotel is small and nice, style old fasioned, however good for a dive vacation. Interior design is OK. Food: Do not expect too much, it... More

Dear Kurk: Our thanks for your posting. You summarized the philosophy of the resort perfectly with eat, sleep dive. Riding Rock and San Sal are indeed as unhurried as they have been through the ages - quiet, friendly and unspoiled. It leaves our guests with plenty of time to be on the receiving end of the traditional Bahamian hospitality Michelle... More

I just returned home from a week of scuba diving in San Salvador, Bahamas. We stayed at the Riding Rock Resort and Marina. First, I'll tell you that it's not a brand new, fancy resort. It's an older resort that they work hard at maintaining. The rooms are clean and everything works. That's what's important to me when I go... More

Dear Rasnik: Thank you for posting such a thorough posting. Riding Rock has been in operation since the 1960's and it is no small feat to keep several steps ahead of the Caribbean environment but the owners and staff do prevail! Most people won't have heard of San Salvador, which is kind of a good thing. You feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, yet still have access to all modern conveniences (unless you count Starbucks and fast food chains among life's necessities). The staff at this resort is gracious and accommodating on every level. We were greeted at the airport with a smile and whisked away in a private shuttle directly to the resort.
