I take school groups to St. John for service. Cost is a big consideration. For three years we stayed at Maho Tent Campground but now that they are closed I needed a similarly inexpensive alternative. We stayed at Cinnamon Bay this year and had a fantastic time. The cabins are more substantial and bigger than at Maho with a really... More

Absolutely terrible. I have visited this island before and the campground too. I have never experinced such bitter service before. The staff at this campground are rude at best. The accomodation are rustic, but they could be maintained in a way that makes them comfortable and pleasant. Unfortunately the staff here do not care, there is nothing good I can say.... More

Camped May 15-21, 2013. Baresite, #60. I've camped many places, deserts, mountains, beaches, so not new to camping. I camped solo on this trip. First off note that this campground is on one of the most beautiful beaches/parts of St John. So it definitely has location going for it. Transportation (if you have no car) to/from Cruz Bay to the... More

A disappointing visit to an island we know well, cinnamon bay camp ground's staff was at best cordial and at worst unfriendly and unhelpful (with the exception if the water sports hut). The food was okay but you were rarely guaranteed you'd get what your ordered and while the location is A+, it's a hard balance to the general unwelcoming... More

If I was the type that only liked clean 5* hotels then I would not rate this place more than a two but you can't go to a place like this and rate it for what it isn't. That being said, You can't ask for much more in a camp site. We got the beach cottage, 9A. It is a... More

We stayed in a tent site, only two of us, but it had cots for 4. So we had plenty of room. Each cot had a mattress (not a thick one), but perfectly fine. We loved the isolated tent sites, allowing for some privacy. We arrived after dark and when we walked to the beach the next morning our jaws... More

You are camping in a National Park, just like Acadia, Yellowstone, or for our Canadian friends, Prince Edward Island National Park. It is dark at night. There may be bugs. The showers are cold. It's a little run down in places. But you are on St. John, one of the prettiest Virgins, mostly because 2/3 of it is a National... More

What an incredible island! We rented a cabin for our family of four and would definitely recommend it for people who want to be close to nature. It was cool and functional. I do not think there is any other place on the island you where you are on the ocean's edge. It is camping- lite. The staff is lovely.... More

Camping right next to the beach, with the sound of tree frogs and the surf, geckos on the screens, hermit crabs, migrating butterflies - how can you beat it? The facilities themselves are a little beat up; duct tape on holes in screens, toilets that frequently had stuck chains, but they're easy to overlook. We rented an existing tent, which... More

I wanted to go to the Caribbean island, but I wants to avoid the resort experience. Cinnamon bay campground was the answer. I camp a lot, so I can compare this campsite to others. The location, obviously, is hard to beat. Campsites themselves are far from each other, so you feel privacy. I was fortunate do the campsite I originally... More
