Quaint Inn with optimal location and very friendly staff. Owner Dave and Manager Donna will steer you in the right direction. Near shopping, restaurants, and markets the inn has beach towels, coolers, snorkeling equipment and chairs. Jeep rental very close to tour island and you can get a cab easily as well. The downtown bay area is a VERY short walk. Go to The Windmill Bar for the sunset on the top of the mountain and definitely check out the beaches. There’s also quite a few options to get sandwiches for a beach day that are excellent as well. Sam and Jacks, Provisions, and North Shore Deli recommended. Make sure you go to the Roti King Food Truck. It’s awesome. This island is great and not commercialized. It reminds me of the Caribbean vacations I took as a child. We met quite a few repeat clients at The Saint John Inn and look forward to coming back and staying here again. If you like to hike there are plenty of great trails as well. The beaches are pristine.

The staff is great - not only did they save our vacation (from another Expedia screw up) - Donna was all over our requests for the best resteraunts and getting reservations, booking adventure trips and informing us on the best beaches and how to get there--comfy clean rooms- and a friendly atmosphere you wont get at a resort - between the breakfast and happy hour you got to know everyone staying at the Inn - a great way to find out what's a good find from someone who was just there

We had an awesome stay at the St John's Inn in March 2024. Very easy to get to from the ferry dock in Cruz Bay. The manager, Donna, and the owner, David, were very accommodating and welcoming. Guests can hang out and enjoy the complimentary breakfast and Rum punch for happy hour. They have beach gear to use including coolers, beach chairs, towels and snorkeling gear. Donna can make reservations for you at the finer restaurants. They have a small pool with lovely plants and flowers around the property. Rooms 122, 116 and 115 were our favorites. It is boho chic in a cool, 400 year old building with lots of character. We will be back to visit our new friends. David and Donna will take great care of you!

The St. John Inn was a lucky choice for us for 3 days in St. John. It is, as others have noted, very close to Cruz Bay - the ferry terminal and restaurants (a 5 minute walk) but far enough away to not be bombarded by loud music from the bars well into the night. It is Caribbean funky and laid back in a good way. Such a friendly vibe, from the staff to fellow guests. The outside area encourages people to chat (or not, as you wish) at the complimentary cocktail hour and breakfast times. Our bed was comfy with high quality linens. A special shout out to Manager Lindsay! Such a welcoming, genial, & outgoing person who was beyond helpful and considerate to us! Thank you!!

We really enjoyed our stay at the St John Inn! Just did one night there, but I would definitely recommend it. We went with another couple and shared their 2-BR suite. Clean and comfortable rooms - the ACs work great. Nice little touches in the room. Even had a little private patio and hammock. Visited the pool that night after dinner and it is small, so it actually retained the heat from the day and felt comfortably heated. Didn’t partake in their complimentary happy hour or continental breakfast, but appreciated the option (didn’t know about either of those before booking). Loved that it was close enough to town to walk (and that it came with a parking spot for the night!). The staff was super friendly and accommodating. We will definitely stay here again.

Mary and I enjoyed 5 days at the St. John Inn and our hosts , Donna, Lindsay, and Dave made our stay easy, comfortable and fun. Breakfast at 8, but you can turn on the coffee when you get up, so I had some peaceful early mornings on the deck watching the hummingbirds and bananaquits feed, and listening to the roosters starting their days. Evening happy hour was a nice social event with our hosts sharing personal experiences and making recommendations for restaurants and new beaches to explore. The rum punch was a bonus, but the real treat was the leisurely conversations.

Part of the reason I am writing this review is because I left my comment on a fb post on how I thought the rooms to be overpriced. The person blocked me for my honesty. If this is the way they approach customer service, then Im glad I wont give them my business again. The patios and pool were really lovely with flora and fauna and the cutest little cats that lived there. Our room was terrible. Dismal at best. It was a dark dirty pink color with 2 very small windows. The sink had a pvc pipe that drained into the shower and it was pretty gross. I spent nearly 4k for my 12 day stay. Had I paid less I would have had no complaints. Way overpriced for what it is. I read all the reviews that were misleading. No one tells the truth about the rooms here. If you are charging this amount of money, invest in some upgrades for your guests instead of trying to take advantage.

This place was very cute. It had great reviews. Mostly everything was clean and everyone was friendly. I only put my feet in the pool and it was nice temperature. There was construction around us at this time but wasn’t a big deal. We could walk to everywhere from here However, me and my partner both got bedbugs bites all over our legs. Due to this I’m giving 3 stars.

Hi Shelby, So glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. In terms of the bed bugs , we do not have them. We use Heavenly beds, which are a very high quality bed that has a certain technology built in them that repels all bed bugs . We are famous for our super nice beds. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

The St John Inn is conveniently located in Cruz Bay. It’s a small older hotel with a terrific owner, manager and housekeeper. We appreciated the amenities - continental breakfast, happy hour punch, delightful pool, keyless locks, and a small concession for drinks. The suite was clean, the beds comfortable, and the kitchen sufficiently stocked. The AC kept us cool through the night. We loved the fact that we could walk everywhere…to the National Park Visitor Center, local markets, and restaurant. We were able to use their beach chairs, beach towels, snorkel equipment and coolers throughout our stay. We so appreciated the friendliness of everyone - staff and guests alike. I hope we can return!

This was my third stay at St. John Inn in the past two years and I’m a repeat customer for a reason! You will feel right at home while staying here. You can’t get these accommodations any closer to Cruz Bay. This time I had a bigger group, six of us, including my 3-year-old daughter and the other couples 12-year-old son. We were able to use their scuba gear all week (rather than renting) and an abundance of sand toys for my daughter to choose from! It’s great not to worry about those little things. Plenty of fresh beach towels that get refreshed daily. Jim and Dave become family so quickly while they prepare continental breakfast, fresh local coffee, daily rum punch happy hour and great local recommendations and suggestions on beaches based on the wind factor! The rooms are tropical and have everything you need to enjoy your stay. The back patio is great for late night relaxing and my daughter is in love with the pool. Can’t say enough good things about this place and looking forward to my next trip back to hang out with Jim and Dave!
