Botanical Villas isn't completely horrible. I found the showers and bathrooms to be clean and stocked w/ soap & toilet paper. There isn't an indoor light in the bathrooms, though, which makes showering at night hard. One of the showers has horrible water pressure, but the other is fine. And, they at least have hot water (unlike the other local... More

This place is a dump with great potential. It sounds like it has been cleaned up considerably from the reviews of a year previous, but a long way to go to be a functioning campground/hostel. Never saw Elsa...Angela very nice. Able to make do, but doubt I would go back. The worst possible spot on St. John for cell phone... More

First the positive: the location of Botanical Villas is truly amazing. Close to the best beaches but removed from Cruz Bay. Perfect. Now the negative: I cannot write about how charming Elsa is like everyone else has because she never bothered to show up the entire 8 days we were on the island. I had emailed with Elsa extensively prior... More

I had such a wonderful time at BV - Elsa is such a sweet lady creating a really sacred space for people to stay in St. John for less money all while creating a full connection with Nature. I stayed in the platform bed - which was DIVINE - in fact, I hardly came out the second day (it is... More

Beautfiul grounds with views of peter bay, only a 5 minute walk to cinnamon bay. Elsa is super friendly and accomadating. Definatley willing to work with you. Positive group of travellers, some have stayed for a few days, others a few months. cabins had great views, beds, and fans. I stayed on a bare site. Hard to find level ground... More

Had an absolutely wonderful time at this place on St. John! A combination campground/hostel-ish/cabin court, this is a great place for the budget traveler. If you're looking for an all-natural outdoor experience and are willing to accept a few environmentally-induced limitations, this is the place for you. Set mountainside on Northshore Rd. embedded in the Virgin Islands National Park, a... More

If this is any indication as to how dreadful this place was..... I had booked 14 days stay here and the first night was nearly in tears after seeing what I had actually booked. I slept here the first night out of necessity as I arrived later in the day and then booked another place (no refunds here) for the... More

First, let me preface this by saying that I am simple and require very little to sustain my comfort and happiness. My girlfriend and I booked here for an extended stay to escape our professional paths for a while and reconnect with nature/ourselves. Now the review: Unless you are bringing your own tent and will only be staying for one... More

What a privilege to enjoy the stunning beauty of, in my view, the Caribbean's most beautiful island at such an affordable price! And what makes it even more amazing....is that Botanical Villas Campground is located in the midst of the multi-million dollar homes of world famous Peter Bay. My approximate two week stay was in one of the BVC cottages.... More

The woman who runs the place was nice, nice enough to upgrade us from baresite camping to a platform bed. However, it was a really weird place to stay. Very very little privacy, in that our platform bed was just a mattress on stilts surrounded by mosquito net and blue tarps, and 4 feet away from neighboring tents on either... More
