This hotel was great. Booking & Check in was simple, with a friendly member of staff making the welcome great. The room that I was allocated (119) was at the front corner of the building, I was apprehensive as it was overlooking the car park, however there was no need for me to be. I had a great night of... We stayed at the Merthyr Tydfil Travelodge as part of a weekend trip to the Olympic Football at the Millennium Stadium. It's clean, the stay were friendly - and there is a Table Table restaurant right next door that serves a great full english and a good evening meal. Recommended. Ignore anyone giving this less that five stars - it's... More

as i said this hotel is good for a stop off on the way into wales its quiet warm and comfortable but that's about it, good location for shops and food and the cinema if the weather is bad take note though that the dragonfly pub next door stops serving food at 9pm if you arrive late

Stayed here for 2 nights in May, great location with a good choice of restaurants on the leisure site, the staff were helpful and the room was a great size, situated on the 2nd floor facing the beacons. The carpet should have been hoovered after our first night so bad marks there, we had to ask for some soap because... More

We have just come back after two nights at Travelodge and cannot understand how anybody could complain about this place. The staff were very polite, friendly and helpfull. The room was clean and tidy and had everything you could want or need. The bed was clean and comfortable. The price well you just could not beat the price. What do you want... More

Although on approach, we were quite pleased with the location (lots of handy restaurants and a cinema etc), we were not pleased with the appalling lack of noise insulation. We could hear everything - other guests conversations and drunkenness in the corridors, constant slamming of doors, groups congregating and smoking outside, guests arriving back to the hotel throughout the night... Booked here to go walking in the Brecon Beacons. The summit of pen y fan is only about 10 mins away so is perfectly situated. The hotel was conveniently located with a marstons, harvester, nandos, Francis and bennies, McDonald's and Chinese within 5 mins walk. The room was very clean and as expected for a travelodge. They aren't the highest... More

As with all travel lodges, they are budget range of hotels so you cant realistically expect to much from your stay. I stayed here cheap & cheerful for 2 nights with the intention of using the room literally as a base to sleep, i was out early till late each day, staff were very friendly, room was huge if sparse... It's not Merthyr's fault that Travelodge built their prison here but each room should come with a length of rope and a hotline to the Samaritans. Greeted by a bare room with just a bed and a small ledge with a kettle I regretted not sleeping in the van.Dreadful and soulless. I wish i'd paid more and stayed in a... More

We were staying in Merthyr Tydfil for two nights, so booked in at this Travelodge. Not having been there before we were pleasantly surprised to find it in a trading estate which included a leisure centre and no fewer than seven restaurants, one of which was no more than 100 yards away. The receptionist was pleasant and helpful, the room,... More
