The Hotel on the Cay is an island in the middle of the Christiansted harbor. Basic rooms, clean, microwave and coffee maker. A total DUMP. We were aware of the dated rooms and read previous reviews, but this place should be closed and gutted and completely renovated. From the restaurant to the lobby to the public areas to the room --$29.95 would have been too much to pay for this hotel. I returned yesterday /329/2008 after a 7 day stay in St. Croix. This hotel is not the Ritz but it served its purpose for me. First the location is perfect. As others have mentioned, the rooms were a bit dated, but who needs an extremely nice room when you are in paradise? St. Croix was simply an amazing time. This older property has, arguably the best location in the Caribbean--on its own island with increible views of old Christiansted, the impossible blue colors of the ocean, views of surrounding mountains and fantastic sunsets.
