If you're thinking of staying at Manta, you really must be aware of just how basic the place is. - The brochure and website describes 'superior' rooms. It also talks of the lodge being 'embellished with old world Caribbean elegance'. This is gross misrepresentation. The rooms are very basic, but what's most important is that they are dirty. When we... more

I traveled with my family to Tobago we started staying at the Blue Waters Inn but they had an electrical problem and moved us to The Manta Lodge Hotel until they could work out the problem. The hotel was very clean and the staff was quite friendly, just having a pool was an upsite to the Blue Waters Inn. We... more

Having read the latest review, I too felt compelled to write. I was one of the large group which stayed at Manta Lodge in May/June this year. Quite frankly, it was the worst diving holiday I have ever had. Being an experienced and well travelled diver, I am used to staying in basic dive lodge accommodation. However, Manta Lodge was... more

I have just come back from a week's trip to Manta Lodge in Tobago with a friend and wish I was still there and can't wait to go back. The diving is amazing, we swam with about 8 mantas in one dive, watching them do their mating dance - an experience we will never, ever forget. The instructors were incredibly... more

Having read the last couple of reviews I felt compelled to write my own. I am planning a return visit to Manta Lodge and therefore decided to check out the latest reviews and quite honestly can't believe we are talking about the same place!! I stayed for 2 weeks in February 08 with my husband. We completed the PADI Rescue... more

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read the reviews about this place very carefully. I have just come back from a trip with 22 guests. For the majority this was a nightmare. It is a Hotel that I will never advise people to stay in. I have been running trips around the world with large groups for over 12 years and I have... more

We were on a group booking via Oonas Divers. I had read reviews of Manta Lodge after booking, before going, and was frankly worried about what to expect. I heard from an Oonas rep before the holiday that the owner was on a serious warning after the complaints listed on Trip Advisor and elsewhere. On arrival night, my partner and... more

Just returned from a week's diving holiday at Manta Lodge, using the onsite dive shop, Tobago Dive Experience. After last review on this site, was a little anxious, but I needn't have been. Our party of 4 had a great time. Yes there were a few hiccups, like no-one to collect us at the airport when we arrived (communication problem... more

We spent 9 days and nights at the Manta Lodge. I would never go back. There are a few good points but they are massively overwhelmed by the bad points. First of all, the hotel, is very, very noisy. The noise starts early in the morning (4 AM or so) and continues through the day. It's the staff shouting, car... more

The rooms were clean the food was good but expensive. The diving which is the main actitivy offered was great we even saw sharks! They had traditional pan music one night. The staff would speak to you if you talked to them and they were very polite. If you like to lay around at a pool or scuba dive this... more
