We have just returned from the mermaid hotel in Tobago.The owners, and staff were friendly and polite at all times and couldnt do enough for you. The Mermaid is a smallish hotel about 5 minutes walk from the airport and 5 minutes from Store bay Beach. However just because its not sea front don't let it put you off, the walk is lovely and you can not hear the airport at all. This is a basic 2 star hotel. It is clean and well maintained. The property is about 1 year old. The bathrooms were clean and towels were changed daily. Breakfast is included in the price of the room, though the menu is limited. The staff is friendly and will make recommendations for tours, restaurants, etc. Tobago is small and easy... more

My partner and I stayed at the Mermaid Hotel in Tobago and were delighted with our stay. The hotel has 19 rooms, a swimming pool and is in a very quiet area albeit near the airport (very few flights a day, don't compare to Heathrow !). The weather was good, temperatures in the high 70’s, the staff at the Mermaid were brilliant, especially Ramsey and Stacey, and Store Bay beach is beautiful – safe and good for swimming and snorkelling. There are places to eat and drink by the beach. There’s nothing quite like a Carib beer and a plate of crab n dumpling at lunchtime... more
