My husband and I stayed at Anise Resort and Spa, Sans Souci for for two nights two weeks ago and also stayed for two nights at the end of December.

This small hotel is luxurious compared to the others in Grand Riviere. The rooms and bathrooms are very, very good and the food is excellent. On arrival we were welcomed with a delicious fruit punch and cold towels.

The staff are all local people which has helped the local economy. A very friendly lot. They even , somehow, found some glue to stick up our hiking shoes in December.

There are many forest walks and hikes around with some quite challenging, river crossings etc. You must have a guide for safety, I would not contemplate going without one as it is very easy to get lost.

It is run by the Thompson family; Mr Thompson also has a catering business in Port of Spain.

This hotel is expensive compared to others in the area but you get what you pay for. See their website for details... more
