Stayed here in an second floor room, simply stunning, no mod cons just pure relaxation! Lovely balcony amazing views, the owner is very pleasant and clearly in love with his plantation and the island! Would definitely stay here. Loved falling asleep listening to the sounds of nature!

The Hermitage Plantation was a wonderful place to get away to in the middle of a snowy, cold winter in the northeast. It is a very unique set of individual Caribbean cottages on grounds that are kept to give you the feel of an old plantation. The breakfasts were yummy. The dinners are made with wonderful recipes and fresh ingredients. Don't... More

Monkey's in your backyard, wonderful view, lovely cottages, great staff and food. This was our favourite place of all the spots we visited in St. Marten and around. It was an amazing escape, and very lovely island.

Our family (two small girls aged 3 and 6) just stayed at Hermitage for the second time in two years. It was nothing short of paradise. Everything was great...everything. The staff was beyond helpful. The room (The Loft), the grounds, and the facilities were beautiful. The food was excellent (do NOT miss the West Indies style pig roast on Wednesdays...you... More

This was our second visit to The Hermitage and it was as fantastic as the first. To begin, the staff is outstanding. They treat you as honored guests with a friendliness that is unparalleled. Our cottage was charming and the bed was perfect. The view of the Caribbean Sea and Mt. Nevis was breathtaking. As for the food, it rivals... More

The Hermitage Plantation Inn is my favourite place on Nevis. It is without question the most charming inn on the island and the most relaxed. The cottages are traditional, colourful and stunning. The family and staff become friends before your stay is over. The food is good old fashioned Nevisian home cooking. The bread is fresh every day. I feel... More

We were staying at a nearby cottage so we decided to take the walk to the Hermitage for breakfast on a beautiful sunny day. The property is beautiful, with small gingerbread cottages scattered around. The service was top notch. I had intended to order something light, such as fruit, but when I saw "toasted coconut French toast" on the menu,... More

Loved all of the little gingerbread bungalows scattered all over the plantation. The lobby, living room, bar, etc. are decorated beautiful and made me feel like I was stepping back in time in New England where I grew up. They were roasting a whole pig on a spit at the time and it smelled wonderful!

This was my fourth trip to Nevis, I have always stayed at the Hermitage both in the small delicate cottages on the property and once in one of their smaller rooms. This year, I rented the manor house over Christmas with my grown daughters and I can say it was one of the top five trips of our lives! the... More

The Hermitage is a great place to stay on Nevis if you like being surrounded by nature. It's located in the trees, part way up the side of Mount Nevis. We were delighted to see many Green Vervet Monkeys at The Hermitage during our stay, as well as goats and sheep along the nearby roads and trails. We enjoyed a... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hermitage is a small plantation inn with an excellent reputation for its charm and warm, West Indian hospitality. The guest rooms are like gingerbread cottages and are styled after the old Planter’s house with a tradition of elegant West Indian style, antiques, mahogany four poster canopy beds, and private verandahs, with swaying hammocks, in an orchard like setting of mango trees and tropical plants. The Hermitage offers tranquility and serenity in its peaceful environment. ... more   less
