This was our second visit to The Hermitage and it was as fantastic as the first. To begin, the staff is outstanding. They treat you as honored guests with a friendliness that is unparalleled. Our cottage was charming and the bed was perfect. The view of the Caribbean Sea and Mt. Nevis was breathtaking. As for the food, it rivals... More

The Hermitage Plantation Inn is my favourite place on Nevis. It is without question the most charming inn on the island and the most relaxed. The cottages are traditional, colourful and stunning. The family and staff become friends before your stay is over. The food is good old fashioned Nevisian home cooking. The bread is fresh every day. I feel... More

We were staying at a nearby cottage so we decided to take the walk to the Hermitage for breakfast on a beautiful sunny day. The property is beautiful, with small gingerbread cottages scattered around. The service was top notch. I had intended to order something light, such as fruit, but when I saw "toasted coconut French toast" on the menu,... More

Loved all of the little gingerbread bungalows scattered all over the plantation. The lobby, living room, bar, etc. are decorated beautiful and made me feel like I was stepping back in time in New England where I grew up. They were roasting a whole pig on a spit at the time and it smelled wonderful!

This was my fourth trip to Nevis, I have always stayed at the Hermitage both in the small delicate cottages on the property and once in one of their smaller rooms. This year, I rented the manor house over Christmas with my grown daughters and I can say it was one of the top five trips of our lives! the... More

The Hermitage is a great place to stay on Nevis if you like being surrounded by nature. It's located in the trees, part way up the side of Mount Nevis. We were delighted to see many Green Vervet Monkeys at The Hermitage during our stay, as well as goats and sheep along the nearby roads and trails. We enjoyed a... More

Our lasting memory of arriving at St Kitts Airport was the welcome we received from Immigration and, in particular from Customs staff, to the islands. After 20 Hours of travel, home to hotel, we arrived at The Hermitage at 8pm and received a very warm welcome from Reception and from Richie, one of the owner’s family. He showed us to... More

We stayed at the Hermitage in November 2012. Been meaning to write a review, but kept forgetting to do so until now. We spent 10 days there and it was paradise. We stayed in a 1 bedroom cottage and it was delightful. No A/C in any of the cottages, but it was never a problem. Breezes were great and we... More

My family and I have had the pleasure of two stays at The Hermitage- in 2011 and 2010. It is a special special treasure of a hotel. Fully authentic. Warm. Real. Open. Caribbean. You ARE staying in someone's home/estate. Forget swim-up bars. Forget kids clubs. Forget TV. Forget nonsense. The Hermitage is about good food. Walking in the mountain (and... More

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Hermitage. The service from everyone was so friendly, polite and unassuming and anything and everything we asked for was no trouble at all. The breakfasts and dinners are to die for and the kitchen had no trouble catering for my vegetarian diet, everything we ate was delicious - the buffet is out... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Hermitage is a small plantation inn with an excellent reputation for its charm and warm, West Indian hospitality. The guest rooms are like gingerbread cottages and are styled after the old Planter’s house with a tradition of elegant West Indian style, antiques, mahogany four poster canopy beds, and private verandahs, with swaying hammocks, in an orchard like setting of mango trees and tropical plants. The Hermitage offers tranquility and serenity in its peaceful environment. ... more   less
