We recently returned after a 10-day stay on the island. Initially, we only intended to stay a few nights at the Horny Toad, we then planned to move to the French side of the island. After a few days, we decided we enjoyed our host, our accommodations and the location so much; we would rather spend our entire vacation at... more

Let us start off by saying this place isn't for everyone. The unit did not have a TV or a radio so if you like that stuff then you will be out of luck. The units do have a full kitchen so that is great (plus the owner will make sure to stock your fridge before you get there). You... more

We just got back from the best seven days we've ever spent on a beach. The accommodations were better than perfect, if that's possible. Without a doubt, the CLEANEST place we've ever stayed at. Also, by far, they are the most friendly people to deal with that we've ever come in contact with. If you want nightlife and activities on... more

What a lovely place to stay. I was worried about the location being so close to the airport and the 1st morning we did hear planes early in the am but after the 1st day they were not even noticable. We liked the location because it was close to good restaurants, watersports and beaches. In general, we found activities on... more

The Horny Toad is the perfect destination for people who like quiet, clean, unpretentious accomodations. Betty and her staff take excellent care of you, and are ready with suggestions, hints and directions to the best places on the island. Our expectations were met and exceeded on every level. Truly a unique experience, and one which we hope to repeat again... more

I wish I could pick up the Horny Toad and transplant it to all the other Caribbean islands I'd like to visit. I visited Dec. 9-17, 2004. The Horny Toad may not be luxurious, but it's VERY clean and VERY comfortable. And everyone there, especially the owner, Betty Vaughn, is very helpful. She has a lot of information based on... more

Forget about those large condo/timeshare resorts. The Horny Toad Guesthouse is the place to stay if you really want to relax. We stayed on the second floor with a wonderful oceanfront view of Simpson Bay. A portable air conditioner was offered to us, but with the ceiling fan and the Carribean breeze , there was absolutely no need to use... more

Eight guestrooms with kitchens; beautiful view of Simpson Bay, beach just steps outside the guesthouse; very clean rooms, friendly staff. Ms. Vaughan makes your stay relaxing, and provides tips to maximize whatever it is you want to do on the island. The 6 o'clock communal "cocktail hour"on the patio is a nice time to make new friends and share experiences.... more

My husband and I just returned from our fifth stay at the Horny Toad and already have our reservations for next year. We always enjoy "Turkey Day" on the beach -- the owner Betty cooks the turkey, stuffing and a fabulous cranberry/orange relish and the other guests fix the other accompaniments. The Horny Toad is a quiet, private guest house... more

The beach of the Caribbean is 40 paces from your semi-private porch. Most rooms face the sea with generous sliding glass doors, giving you a sweeping view...Betty the owner, is sweet & accomodating, as is the staff. The proximity to the airport is annoying to some, but dramatic to watch. This is a no-frills accomodation, however, inexpensive bare-basics furnishings, no... more
