My wife and I stayed at the Pasanggrahan before leaving on the Island Windjammer sailing cruise and it was charming. A great location right on the beach. The dinner at the restaurant was excellent and matched the ambiance of the guesthouse. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at Passanggrahan 4 days before and 4 days after a sailing trip and have to say that we did feel as though we were home during the second 4 days. The staff made us feel like we were family. There are two parts to the hotel; the older three story with antique furniture and the very modern 6... More

I stayed here for 7 days, and I had the best time. I traveled alone, and was a little worried about the room, but the room was very clean and the view was the best. My room over looked the restaurants and bars located on the boardwalk. I could also see the ships when they came in. It was so... More

We stayed here in June of 2013 for our 5th wedding anniversary. It was pretty clean, and bug free and the view from the balcony was nice. The hotel staff was kind and helpful. We wanted to stay somewhere downtown close to other businesses and things to do, but what we really ended up being close to was the cruise... More

I spent 13 nights at the Pasanggrahan with two of my friends for our annual ladies trip to St. Maarten. From the first day, we were treated like royalty. We stayed in a Deluxe room in the older building and then we were upgraded to a suite in the new section. Both rooms were very clean, quaint and we enjoyed... More

Stayed for 6 nights in older section. Great View! Only complaint was the bathroom could have been cleaned better! (floor and around toilet area, especially).Other than that, room was perfect! Staff was super friendly and very helpful! Food at restaurant was delicious! Location was perfect! Overall excellent experience, and would return again! Very peaceful!

We stayed here for three nights prior to a sailing trip and one night after. The staff was helpful and friendly both in the hotel and in the restaurant and bar area. The rooms were clean and comfortable (we were in the older part of the hotel). The location is excellent, loved sitting in the outdoor patio watching people come... More

I visited St. Maarten with 8 months old baby and my husband in Feb. 2014. I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. The front desk staff, cleaning lady, owner, bartender, kitchen staff, servers and every other staff were amazing. Great people. You feel safe. They watch out for you. This hotel is in a great location, right at board... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
"The Pasanggrahan Royal Guesthouse is St. Maarten's oldest and most charming inn. Formerly a rooster farm, Governor's home, V.I.P. guest house, and Dutch Royal Residence, it is ideally located in Philipsburg on a white sand beach amidst enchanting tropical gardens and enclosed within its original stone walls: a green oasis hidden on Front Street. A national landmark and one of the last bastions of West Indian culture, the Pasanggrahan is secluded and offbeat in the heart of St. Maarten’s capital, and it's a minute's stroll to shops, restaurants, casinos, banks and other institutions and activities. This authentic, colonial style inn has all the special features of a larger hotel including concierge service, the Sidney Greenstreet Bar, boardwalk beach bar, complementary chaise lounges, beach towels, and social hour. “A special place for special people” General Information"This vintage West Indian-style guesthouse has a prime spot on the beach in Philipsburg, sandwiched between the busy, narrow main street of Philipsburg and the harbor. It's set back and shaded under tall trees, a charming relic from another time. In fact, this was once the summer home of the Dutch Queen Wilhelmina, and the interior has a gracious, late-19th-century feel, with peacock bamboo chairs, Indian spool tables, and a gilt-framed oil portrait of the Dutch queen. The small- to medium-size accommodations have queen-size, double, or king-size beds with four-poster designs; some are in the main building and others are in an adjoining annex. The finest have genuine colonial flair, with antique secretaries and four-posters swaddled in mosquito netting, madras valances, hand-stitched quilts, beamed ceilings, and still life paintings. Set among lush palms is the harborfront Pasanggrahan Restaurant, which specializes in fresh fish caught by the hotel's own deep-sea charter fishing boat and family-style dinners. ... more   less
