This place doesn't cut it as a 5 star hotel. The room we had was a pretty standard small hotel room, nothing special. But there are a couple of things that make the Bakoua worth considering. The bar which overlooks the infinity pool which overlooks Fort de France and Mont Pelee is fantastic. Sit with a ti punch and watch... more

This is not a Sofitel, it is a a managed hotel. Basically a 3 star playing a 5 star game. The reception area is horrible, check in is confusing, there is little or no attention paid to the guest , it took us 45 mins to check in ( at 8pm and we were the only ones). The rooms are... more

We stayed in the Sofitel Bakoua the last week of December, one of the busiest week in Martinique with many French tourists trying to escape France's winter. The Bakoua is located in Pointe du Bout near Trois Ilets which is the worst part of Martinique in terms of authentcity. The good news is that the close by Marina is a... more

We struggled to find many reviews of Martinique before we travelled and when we did find them we were often disappointed. The Sofitel seemed to offer a reliable holiday experience and we were not disappointed during our 2 night stay. We arrived by catamaran from St. Lucia. Not an experience I would recommend but the Liat flights we wanted were... more

Just came back from a week-long stay in Sofitel. We had a good experience and would surely stay there again. It is a very family-oriented place. The hotel has a nice, though small, beach; a pool. The property is very pretty: tropical flowers, a nice tikky-bar on the beach, a couple of restaurants. The rooms, on the other hand, are... more

We stay around 10 years ago at this place and did not like it all. Having checked that several reviews showed some improvement, we decided to test it again. First of all, rooms have been nicely refurbished, but are always small (between 20 and 25 sqm terrace included). We stayed in the Beach section (upper floor). One important thing is... more

After a one week stay in Guadeloupe, we went to Martinique, in order to discover this other french speaking island. We were quite disappointed of the service in Guadeloupe, the one is Martinique is a lot better!. The hotel is located in a private area, with a private parking. Meanwhile you are proposed to fulfill some formalities, you will be... more

Just back from martinique and I must say that it was a wonderful experience. The pool is great, the private beach is tip top and I had a massage on the beach : a dream ! I've been there for 10 days, with my husband and our twins (8yo) We all had a wonderful time. Breakfast was a bit disapointing... more

What a beautiful hotel... and what a beautiful island. After having read the reviews on trip advisor, I was concerned about staying at the Sofitel. I must say.... it was fabulous. The staff was EXTREMELY helpful with any and everything.... the hotel was beautiful. Our room was right on the beach. The area is great, a marina that offers boats... more

The Sofitel Bakoua is a lovely hotel with gorgeous gardens, a beautiful harbor view, a fabulous tromp l'oiel (sp???) pool and gigantic, killer lobsters. Yes, French helps as it does throughout Martinique which other reviewers might not have known is part of FRANCE. I really don't know why others felt uncomfortable in the pool at sunset. I spent each sunset... more
