We arrived at Hotel Carayou and the bellhop took us to our room. Immediately after he left we looked around and decided we were not staying in that room for the following reasons; the walls needed a good coat of paint, the door seemed like it was broken into as the wood had that sort of roughness. Very clean and spacious and for the price adequate. The "beach" isnt much to write home about and the water is very choppy there making it difficult to swim. Hotel staff can be a little grumpy and rude. Breakfast buffet is good. Good location. more

I find Martinique to be expensive... and of poor value. I had stayed the previous weekend at the Fregate Blue hotel which was charming in a "grandmother's cottage" sort of way... great people, great view but a little too close to nature for me (e.g. 2 mosquitoes in the room feasted on m ankles.
