It was my buddy's birthday and I convinced him to take me up on a trip to Vieques to experience the bioluminescent bay (a must-do while on the island). I also convinced him to stay at the Hix Island House (HIH) as I had read about it in several periodicals. We chose to stay in the Gallery as it is... more

We really enjoyed our time at Hix. Firstly, Vieques is completely beautiful and a great trip so that already makes it a positive trip. But we had such a good time at Hix. It is very simple, but beautiful. We loved the breakfast-making ingredients. We ate french toast and scrambled eggs. We also ate a few other meals there with... more

The HIx Island House is one of the most wonderful places I have stayed in my world travels. Seycha (at the front desk) was extremely cordial and helpful (she went out of her way to help us with a personal matter). The accomodations were outstanding - simple, ecologically-friendly, but luxurious at the same time. We stayed in Loft 5 -... more

If I could design paradise, it would come pretty close to Hix Island House. Especially if you get to see the infinity pool at the owners' cottage (which is not for public use). Hix is what I would call luxury camping, in that you get the best of the outdoors with very little of the downside. However, if you are... more

My girlfriend and I enjoyed three amazing nights at the Hix Island House from January 16-19. The grounds were so tranquil the entire time, and our Casa Rectangular loft was perfect in every way. The concept of an open-air room didn't fully hit us until that first night we fell asleep to the sounds of leaves and birds with a... more

Hix Island House deftly and interestingly combines indoor space with outdoors, giving you easy access to tropical trees outside your door/on patio, exotic birds chirping, cool island breezes to lull you asleep and beautiful sunrises to awaken to. Each of the rooms are more like big apartments with a modern minimalist rustic design that although not luxurious, are comfortable. This... more

We just came back from a Valentines day trip in Puerto Rico. We spent the last 2 1/2 days on the Vieques Island. The whole place is very peaceful and beautiful. It's definitely not as commercialized as the PR main island. Beaches are much less crowded. I wish we had a better start with our journey to HIX, but the... more

The Hix House was a beautiful, unique and relaxing experience. We have dubbed it 7 star camping. The breakfasts we made in our own kitchen with the fresh bread and food was great. Very convenient to be provided with beach chairs, towels, bug spray for your day trips to the beach. The pool area is wonderful if you want to... more

I have to admit that I was a little reluctant about this place after reading the descriptions of recycled water and minimalist accommodations. I am up for an adventure but also value cleanliness and comfort! But, this place was fantastic and far exceeded my expectations! We stayed at the Matisse Loft and upon our arrival, I was pleasantly surprised to... more

A friend recommended Hix to my boyfriend as an awesome place for a chill and romantic vacation spot. Once we checked out the Hix website, we were convinced it would be amazing. Our expectations were far exceeded!! First of all, it's breath-taking and beautiful -- the landscape, the architecture, and the peaceful seclusion were just what we wanted. As soon... more
