The location at the waterfront is great. The staff are fun. The bar has excellent food. The rooms were funky and cool. No TVs. We had A/C, a fridge, and a screened in sitting room. Felt like we were part of the fun here right away.

We stayed in room #11. It was everything I wanted & more! Colorful, beautiful, clean, affordable, and right across from the beach! Food was delicious! Staff was friendly. Wish I has stayed here the whole 4 nights, instead of the Wyndham! Love it!

We rented two rooms at Bananas guesthouse for 1 night during Christmas time and we couldn't be any happier for the decision to stay here. We basically had to stay overnight for the bio bay tour (which was awesome) and chose Bananas as our hotel. The hotel is perfect for the folks who would be doing the snorkeling or bio-bay... More

We visited Vieques for only one night just to check it out. Caught the ferry. Meet our rental company (Maritzas car rental). Drove over to Bananas hotel, meet the owner, she was cool, check in was a breeze! We got a room in the very back with a air conditioner. Did not need it though. Check out our pics below.... More

Can't beat location - right across street from beach & meeting point for Abe's Kayak Tour (BioIlluminiscient Bay is a must!). Room is clean & AC at Bananas costs extra. Food is ok & drinks are pretty strong :) I suggest booking at least 2 nites to avoid extra 10-20 bux for single nite. U have to stay the nite... More

Vieques is not a typical backpacker destination, however this guesthouse is a perfect backpacker retreat. Large spacious rooms, plenty of island to explore. Large beaches with beautiful sand a no tourist, and even a few activities such as snorkeling and bio luminescence tours. The food is fine and conveniently close, and the atmosphere is easy going and comfortable. Rooms are... More

My experience was not quite what I expected. The room I stayed in was terrible. It's not a five star hotel, but at least be clean and items in room working. Toilet in room was loose. The base was dangling. Bathroom aspect was dirty, mildew everywhere. Bed sheets look like, well let's say I covered myself with my towel. I... More

The restaurant at Bananas makes quite possibly the best burger in Puerto Rico... Great for lunch or dinner! Just add a margarita or cerveza, and you can truly appreciate the peace and enjoyment of the Caribbean. If you arrive by ferry, you can take the publicos to Bananas for $21 or a taxi for $25. From Bananas, you can walk... More

I think the only thing I liked about this place was the location. The rooms are ok. It has a hostel feel to it, which I liked, but it was an average experience. We came a bit late, so we weren't shown to our room ,but it was easy to find. The rooms were pretty clean and there was nothing... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Bananas is on island time: the clock in our bar landed on happy hour and never gains a minute. Come from the beach for a burger or salad, or stroll in at sunset for a pina colada. The office staff is always happy to guide you through options for transportation, bio bay and other activities. Island time means no worry, no hassle. We don't do wake up calls. In fact, our rooms don't have phones, or TV. They are comfortably furnished with an island decor and we don't scrimp on the towels. We are happy to point the way to the best snorkeling or swimming beaches, suggest kayaking, reef or fishing trips, tours of the bioluminescent bay and recommend dining spots on the island (but don't tell our chef)! Leave it all behind when you come here. ... more   less
