Nelda welcomes her guests with open arms and you get a completely authentic perspective on rural life in Puerto Rico, in a beautiful setting that's convenient to the rain forest and to the eastern part of the island. She has a big heart and is happy to share her love of the island, its history and customs, with helpful recommendations... More

You learn a lot about the native Puerto Ricans, the Taino, as the hospital runs monthly gatherings. She treated us like family and we were served breakfast and lunch with with more then enough home cooked food for everyone. There is a futon and a king sized bed which comfortably fit the four of us. In the morning the grandson... More

This place was a lot easier to access than I thought and Nilda is a fantastic host. Great bbq dinner and the beaches are very close. Surrounded by the lush forests. Wonderful stay. She lent us towels to use a resort beach. Funny!

We stayed one night here January 2014 (I put August in the drop down because I waited too darned long to write this and it doesnt go back that far) and totally enjoyed it. The room was nice and clean and roomy with a comfortable bed. The property has fantasticviews and the coquis will serenade you at night. The best... More

This place is WAY OFF the beaten path - but my wife and I loved it. Staying with Nilda and her family for 3 nights was one of the highlights of our trip to PR. I'm just going to confirm what several other people already wrote: Nilda is one of the sweetest people in the world and she instantly made... More

My friend and I stayed with Nilda and her family for two nights. The highlight of this experience was Nilda herself, a sweet woman with a powerful love for the world that she imparts to all that come her way. She cooked us meals of local fare, with much of it grown near her home. When a group of high... More

La Paloma Guest House is well worth staying in. It is true that it's off the beaten track, but it's a rare opportunity to stay in the Puerto Rican countryside away from the majority of the tourism infrastructure. In addition, "off the beaten path" still means only half-an-hour from El Yunque and 45 minutes from San Juan. Nilda was a... More

We are two couples from Illinois and we were so lucky to be able to stay with Nilda and her family. Nilda is an exceptionally warm person that is happy to meet new people and to share her piece of paradise. She cooked us a wonderful dinner of fresh fish, and salads. I never thought I would like octopus! We... More

We visited Nilda Arocho and her family Oct. 2014 and had a wonderful evening. She cooked us a delightful dinner that had fresh caught conch, lobster, and octopus. Breakfast was included with the price of our room. The swimming pool was an extra perk. The views of the eastern shores, including Monkey Island were great. Nilda is a beautiful person... More

I found La Paloma Guest House on Trip Advisor. I had never used it before, but I read the reviews, asked a couple of the reviewers questions, which were promptly answered, and found this wonderful little place in the rain forest. When I first spoke to Nilda on the phone, she said,"You know, this is not a five star hotel"... More
