I loved my trip to Ponce and the Melia Hotel. Being downtown is a great and convenent experience. I have stayed at chain hotels outside of the city but found them to be boring with not much to do. Staying in the city is a great, good food, museums, and wonderful walks. The staff is excellent. more

This is the original hotel in Ponce, built in the late 19th century and recently rennovated. Mixes old-style grandeur with many of the comforts of modern times. The architecture is part of the enchantment. You immediately have a feeling of nostalgia upon entering the lobby. Front desk service was excellent. Rates are reasonable. Hotel was spotless throughout, quite an accomplishment... more

My family and I stayed at this dump for a night. We could not belive how dirty this place is. You would think that the owner of this place would take pride of a "landmark", but not. When we got to our room, We where allmost cried. It was really dirty, smelly,HOROBLE. What is wrong with the poeple that work there,... more

We enjoyed our stay at Melia Hotel. The room was spacious and we had great food around the hotel - eg Times Square, Bukit Bintang, Amoy Street, Pavillion. more

I swear I've never heard so many whinies. The Melia hotel (not of the Spanish Melia chain of hotels), is a family-run hotel, dated back to the 19th century. It's in the center of the city, across from the historic firehouse. Indeed, it's an old hotel, but it's kept up and is very well-run. We stayed there in May 2009,... more

Information from a credit card I used at the hotel was stolen during my stay. I used the particular credit card only at the Hotel Melia so either the information was stolen by the hotel staff or the hotel's security is very lax with regard to credit card information supplied by guests. The cleanliness of the hotel could also be... more

We stayed here for one night during a 5-day trip along the coast. Nice, but small rooms did the trick for us. Out our door we had a cool view of the surrounding mountains and the cute courtyard below. Enjoyed the history of the hotel and family that had run it. Staff was friendly and helpful when we arrived late... more

My husband and I just returned from a trip in which we spent two nights in Ponce at Hotel Melia. We stayed in room 314 that had a balcony facing the town square. That was the only good thing I can say about the place. No, I take that back, there was plenty of hot water. The rugs were so... more

Hotel Melia has "character" - we stayed in room 314 which has a balcony overlooking the square . Evening wine and cheese on the balcony was memorable. We had a car so drove to the local supermarket to buy wine and cheese etc. -very reasonable. There is a great bar opposite Hotel Belgica just across the square - great spot -... more

Stayed at the Melia for one night. I was ready to leave Ponce after an hour. City was dirty, lots of trash on the streets (and everywhere else people could dump it), lots of boarded up or abandoned stores and homes, lots of aggressive homeless. The rooms are dirty, tiny, and smelly. The only redeeming part of our stay was... more
