Located in the heart of Old San Juan, above legendary cafe teatro The Nuyorican Cafe, we offer clean, comfortable, eclectic accommodations in a friendly, vibrant setting that is reminiscent of the character of hostels in great European cities like Amsterdam, Paris or Barcelona. In the 1970s this beautiful four story building in colonial Old San Juan housed the Centro Nacional de las Artes. The Centro was an artist collective that ran an art gallery and workshops. more » « less

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times, and at their guest houses too. It is decorated wonderfully with tons of original art work. Everything is clean and all the linens are white (very important to me for cleanliness reasons). They have a couple of balconies and a rooftop with a hot tub. The staff is nice and... more

I had stumbled across a NYT article describing this hotel after spending hours researching every over-priced room within ten miles of Old San Juan. I was stunned to find a hotel with ridiculously reasonable prices smack in the middle of Old Town. Da House is a beautiful hotel in an absolutely perfect location for walking/exploring one of the most colorful... more

My husband and I had most bizarre and disturbing experience at this “hotel”! Our particular problem occurred during the middle of our stay when we came back to the hotel and found all of our stuff was gone, room cleaned, no sign we had been there. When we asked at the front desk what was going on, we were told... more

We heard about the Da House from a friend who read a postive review in the New York Times. Our room was great -- clean, sparse, which was fine. We did run into the same noise problems other reviewers noted. We were on the alley too. We actually had to get ear plugs... Night two, I went to the bar/restaurant... more

You first must know that this is NOT a full service hotel. It does not have: Bell Hops Elevators TV's Room Service What it does not have in amenities it makes up for in character and bohemian style. My boyfriend and I stayed at Da House for 3 nights and LOVED it. So central and you cannot beat the price.... more

We stayed at Da House for only 1 night. I would have liked to have stayed longer but we moved on. This was a neat European-like place. Yes, it is noisy since you are near a bar and in the center of the town but I did not mind it. We stayed in room #4 which is in the interior... more

I want to echo earlier reviews: Da House centrally located, inexpensive, and beautiful. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is, however, LOUD. There are interior rooms that are quieter, but they do not have windows that open to the outside. Da House is not for people who want to go to sleep before 3 am. more

Being typical American tourists, my wife and I nearly wound up in a typical resort or chain hotel in San Juan proper. Luckily, I stumbled across a google hit for Da House. We only stayed two nights in November, but we loved the old-town ambience. Our room was on the top floor but we didn't mind the walk. In fact,... more

Upon booking two weekend nights at Da House, my counterparts and I thought how bad could it really be? Living on a somewhat busier street in Chicago, I thought I would be (somewhat) immune to the noise. It was tolerable, but LOUD. We stayed in a room on the top floor, facing the Callejon de la Capilla, the narrow, brick-paved... more

Da House is 25 steps down the Callejon de Capilla (Alley of the Church) from the Calle de San Francisco. There are four brick steps into the entryway, through an interesting, double hinged heavy door. A small, blue sign is on the outside and another sign just inside the doorway assures you that you are in the correct location. If... more
