El Canario by the Sea is a great place to stay for the budget minded. It is about one-half block from the beach and one-half block off Ashford Avenue. I took a student group to the island several years ago. It was a wonderful experience! Accomodations were clean, yet modest, breakfast was sufficient, even for teens, and the beachside location was terrific for them as well.
