On the evening of my arrival 2/24/15 while I was in bed sleeping a male hotel guest tried to break into my room while I was there. The phone in the room was not working, not connected, no security on the premises and after approx. 20 mins with this crazy young man banging on my door, putting dents in the... More

We chose El Canario Hotel for its proximity to our car rental office and the cruise port, plus it is within easy walking distance to many restaurants and shops in Candado. The hotel is quaint and certainly is well located. However, depending on which side of the hotel you choose, you can be kept up at night by the sound... More

Reception desk personnel saw us- we could see them yakking inside, but they left us standing outside in the hot sun for several minutes before opening the door. They were rude and indifferent to us and we never felt welcomed there. The manager lied to us when we asked if the room faced the street. He said it faced the... More

I stayed at this hotel from Feb.17-20/ 2015. I read the reviews and found them to be fair so this review is my take on my 2 day stay. If you are looking for a short stay over, clean room, no frills such as room service, on a budget where you will use that money to see the sites and... More

El Canario is called Canario Boutique Hotel on Expedia. "Boutique" to me means unique, charming, intimate. Not cheap, poorly maintained, uncomfortable. The front and lobby do look like the pictures. Charming entry, black and white floor, nice and promising. At the check-in desk, we were told we had been re-booked to a sister property called "Casa Caribe", down the road.... More

Is this hotel perfect? No. But, if you want a real treat at a bargain price, don't look any further. If you want to stay in luxury, go a block away to the Marriot and spend $450 a night. This hotel is a gem and sits in the heart of upscale Canario. Some of it's unique experiences are breakfast. Go... More

This had to be the worst hotel we have ever stayed in!!!! the pictures were deceiving. I cannot beleive this place was rated a 3 star hotel...it should be a half star. this place is stuck in the 30's. We were put on the third floor and no elevator or bellhop to help get our luggage to the room just... More

We booked El Canario solely because we planned to stay out late on the last night of the San Sebastian Festival and had an early morning flight the next day - we knew we'd only be in the room for a few hours. For what we required, it was fine. The room was extremely small and bare bones, but it... More

On booking.com this hotel is listed as "El Canario Boutique Hotel", while here on Trip Advisor it is listed as "El Canario Inn"...now it all makes sense. The positives about this place include its location - in the middle of the "Miami Beach" area of San Juan (if that is your thing) - and the fact that our room had... More

We got there at midnight and had to wait for a few minutes to get checked in while Hector the front desk man went to there other hotel down the street to check in another patron. We weren't sure where to park so he offered us his parking right in the drive way while we waited for him to return.... More
