.. beach, lobby, restaurant, location.. you've read the reviews, so if your room means nothing to you stay here. You're greeted by a dirty hallway carpet on the way to Room 105. Open the door and wow!.. awful sea bass blue - ceiling to floor, trim, shabby closet and all! No pictures on the wall, window view of a wall,... more

I just stayed in Hosteria del Mar for nine days and it was a very pleasant experience. I did not get a beach front room but one in the second floor which was quiet and very clean and everything worked just perfectly. The room was recently painted and was quite spacious. For $80 per night and a comp breakfast it... more

When we were looking for a hotel in San Juan, the main thing we wanted was a beachfront location. That is what we got here at the Hosteria del Mar, but not much else. Yes, the lobby is nice, the restaurant is one of the best in the neighborhood (coincidentally, the most expensive), and the beachfront patio is awesome. However,... more

Made reservations three weeks in advance at the front desk for a weekend stay. The same day we arrived we were told our room was unavailable and they had relocated us at a private residence back patio apartment. The residence was about three blocks away from the hotel and a street over the beach front. Paying for a hotel room... more

We stayed here for two nights and had a very enjoyable stay. The restaurant is wonderful...it makes you feel like you're on a tropical island from the tiki-style set-up of the area. The beach is literally a step outside the door and the view is also phenomenal of the ocean. The food is outstanding....a little on the expensive side, but... more

The idea of staying at a quaint guest house right on the beach versus a big box hotel sold us to the idea of Hosteria del Mar. We fell in love with the place when we had dinner there in December. We were aware that Hosteria del Mar is rated as a two star hotel. We also read the reviews... more

I was going to stay at Hosteria Del mar but was scared off by bad reviews on Trip Advisor. The wonderful owner, Elsie, was sorry I cancelled and invited me to lunch, on the house, to see the place. I loved the beautiful and peaceful setting on the beach, as well as the large assortment of Puerto Rican vegetarian dishes.... more

The water problems are over for this hotel my people! I believe they are making some renovations on the hotel. They have umbrellas on the beach, walls are painted I guest they are taking care of the complaints that were made before by many of us. I really love this hotel, is romantic, enchanting , quiet and only 10 minutes... more

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hosteria Del Mar in early December of 2006. We were on a budget, and the price ($140/night) was lower than that of nearby hotels, so we booked a room for 3 nights. The hotel is located right on the beach in a quiet upscale residential neighborhood which is gated off from the rest of... more

The hotel has a nice patio, location, and staff. However, please beware that this hotel has a water problem. In our first room, there was only drops of water out of the shower. In our second room, we had none. They sent us to another room to shower and it was told to us and obvious that other hotel guest... more
