First time in Negril. Staying for a wedding with a large group. we have 15 month old twin girls & Ms. Sheilds recommended the 2bdrm with kitchen which was perfect for us (room 19A&B). the 20 foot ceilings made the space feel huge. the fully equipped kitchen (pots, pans, coffee maker, microwave, oven, sink, full size fridge, toaster) made mornings... I have been to Negril twice this year with teenage nephews. We stayed nearby but ate at Shields several times. The grilled lobster was very nice, the grilled fish disappointing as it lacked the spiced vegetables that it should have had. The boys loved the chicken fingers and found the jerked chicken very good. We timed our meals to coincide... More

After reading all the negtives about this hotel. I was a little concerned after i had booked for a three week stay for a surprise for my wifes 50th. I write this from our balcony of room 27 just as our first week has ended. On arrival at around 10.30pm we were welcomed by royston and the lady on front... More

We stayed at Shields in January 2014. 1st Impression - The lobby was rundown. We get to the desk, and while they had a record of us registering. They had no record of us paying our deposit. (which we did) It was a little frustrating. We ended up double paying the deposit and the rest of the balance. Mrs. Shields... More

I stayed here with a friend for 10 days during the high season. Let's start with the pro's - Staff were very welcoming and we were showed to our room quickly and efficiently. - Rooms were clean and spacious for the most part (only 1 issue see cons). We were located on the ground floor near the bar and beach... More

I have stayed at Shields several times over the years and always feel like I am a welcomed guest! Even folks who do not stay at Shields find themselves there, drawn by the good vibes! The staff is professional, well trained and fun to be around. The security is great and not invasive. I want to rant about the lunch... More

We stayed in one of the kitchenette rooms and it had everything we needed. Rooms were nice and clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Security guards were very good at keeping the grounds secure. Very nice pool, great little bar with good food. The only down side we found to this hotel is its location. It is still part of the... More

We spent 3 weeks in this beautiful villa 2012-13. The staff and owner were superb. The room too. If you want a studio with kitchenette, book early. There are only two. But they are worth it as Jamaica is expensive. It's worth it though. The area is typically carribean. Air&water about 25-30°C. Perfect for us. It's a developing country so... More
