I must say that the riu is by far the best resort i have stayed in to date. i was there from nov.29 to dec. 6 and my wife and i both loved it. the entertainment crew were very energenic and always went out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. cockroaches were non-existant, i don't know which resort... My husband and I first visited this resort in October 2003 and liked it so much that we decided to return with our four children (8,10,12,17) this past August. The service, food, beach and staff were exceptional both times. The beach is one of the best--crystal clear water, in fact, on our first trip there, my husband lost our room... More

The Riu is worth the trip. My husband and I really enjoyed our week, and were actually sorry to go home. I am a bit of a stickler, and tend to notice the little things that might irritate people, but i have to say that all in all the holiday was enjoyable. Good notes first: The grounds are stunning, very... More

My boyfriend and I just got back from a week away at the RIU. We had both visited several other islands in the past but this was a first to Jamaica. I guess the first thing to mention was that we did not see one cockroach. I found the food to be really good - much better than expected. My... More

I find it so sad that there are so many people who travel & complain, pick apart and destroy the reputation of wonderful destinations. I visited the Riu Tropical Bay in November and had a fabulous time. There were absolutely NO roaches, the staff was an absolute delight, the rooms immaculate & the food great. Guess it's all in the... More

This is worth the read. We have just come back from the RIU Tropical Bay in Negril. Before I say anything else, the bugs and roaches story is nonsense. Maybe this happened a few years ago when they first opened the resort from the construction, but this place was spotless. We spent 7 nights in the resort, and I have to... More

Just got back from 2 weeks at the Riu with my girlfriend - and had a great time. Hotel grounds are lush and well kept, the beach is great as is the water. The beach can get a little crowded so we just ventured up the beach away from the entertainment centre... The food was very good, lots of choice... More

Our family of 4 had a great time. Room was very nice, even though it was "a run of the house". Fantastic calm beach, protected by a bay. Many Italians. Entertainment was sort of OK, but not enough for kids though. Had a great fishing trip from the beach, caught a large dolfinfish and a tuna. Food was quite OK,... More

We just want to start by saying - where are these fictious roaches?!! We came all ready with the raid and there was not a one to be spotted. Our room was amazing, comfy, spacious with the bar always full and big up PATRICIA our maid with her inventive towel creations! An average day would start by picking up our... More

All those who wrote in to say there are no roaches are the ones who didn't stay on the ground/first floors. I stayed at the RIU twice, October 24, 2002 and October 16, 2003. I stayed on the third floor in 2002; never saw a roach. This year I stayed on the ground as well as the third floor (suite).... More
