Only negative was our "partial ocean view room" was far enough away that we couldn't hear the ocean. Instead we could hear the sounds of the highway. We would suggest paying the extra to get an ocean front room if that is important to you. We loved the attentive staff, the fantastic beach, and the fun activities like ocean aerobics,... more

I travelled to the Riu with my wife and two grown up daughters (18 and 20). We stayed from the 27th June till 11th July. Some previous reports that I had read left me worried that the place might be a bit shabby and the food somewhat bland. As it turned out we had nothing to be concerned about. Make... more

My husband and I went with another couple for both of our 30th wedding anniversaries. It is a beautiful place-not crowded at all while we were there. We stayed 4 nights and wished for more. The beach was incredible and chairs were abundant. Tried the Bob Marley shots and the Yellowbird was a favorite. We ate at the steakhouse and... more

The hotel was excellent. Pre-check-in drinks and very good service. The staff go out of their way making things happen for you..and i really mean that. Great resort for families. Although tipping is not customary at meals, staff REALLY appreciate it when you do - and these people are legitimately hard working Jamaican citizens. The a la carte restaurants are... more

have just spent 2 weeks in the riu tropical palace..This hotel is no way a 5 star...not even 4 star..The food was covered in flies, the hotel was full of loud mouth americans who spent all day in the pool drinking alcohol and smoking cigars in the pool...The entertainment team did the best they could do,they were very forceful for people... more

I would definitely recommend this hotel for any family that loves the beach, great pool, beautiful resort. I honestly have to say that I have never stayed in a cleaner hotel. The staff was polite and friendly. We traveled off the resort to do the zip lines, swim with the dolphins and go shopping in Ocho Rios. The food was... more

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Riu Palace Tropical Bay from 6/24/09 to 6/28/09. As soon as we entered the spacious lobby, we were handed cold, tropical drinks. We arrived around 1:30 and our room wasn't quite ready (check in wasn't until 3). We took our time walking around the resort and then sat and had drinks in the... more

I spent a lot of time reading reviews on Trip Advisor (border line obsessive), I read negative reviews so I was a little worried. However, the staff was great, our Ocean View room was great (even my picky husband liked it), the beach was great, the music was awesome, and the food and drinks were pretty good. I didn't like... more

Just had to write a review on here after staying at the Riu Tropical Bay in Negril. I went for my 40th b-day with two girl friends. We had a blast. It was my 3rd time there in Negril. Absolutely love the white sand and blue water. Everyone on the resort was extra friendly. I am from the South and... more
