We are travelling a lot around the world but this place was the worst we have ever been to. We had 3 different Front desk people and none of them talked to us ..they were Ingoring us linke this: "please, can you tell us were breakfast is" - no answer..just an angry view..so I asked again and then they pointed... Stayed here during a missions trip. The majority of staff was very nice. My problem was with the housekeeping staff. Definitely needs work with customer service, and ethics. We had a blast though. Wish you all had a pool, or closer to water. Beautiful place though.

My daughter and I spent 12 days at this island escape. The property has definitely seen better days but it is impeccably kept and it is peopled by personable individuals. It is not very touristy but the property sits in the center of everything worth doing in Kingston. The room we stayed in was cleaned every day but the best... More

Location wise, it was a good choice as it was quite close to the US Embassy and especially within walking distance to the Devon House and the Bob Marley Museum. The staff were polite and friendly and the rooms were clean. If you order food well in advance, they would prepare all three meals as per your liking. However, our... More

Stayed 10 days, sheets never changed for that whole period...maids just made the beds everyday...the sheets were very dusty! Room had no iron, had to run up n down to the eating area to get hot water for tea or coffee. No water dispensers, I had drank water form the tap just to take pills by emergency and ended up... I have read all of the reviews and I just cannot relate the high ratings to the place where I stayed this week. Yes, the location is good: it is a very short walk from the Bob Marley museum and Devon House (in the opposite direction). It is along a main bus route and it is a very quiet side... More

Shirley Retreat House is a pleasant guesthouse. It's warm tangerine color is inviting. It is located in a quiet residential area, but less than a mile walk from Devon House in one direction and the Bob Marley Museum in the other. You can easily walk to those places or walk to Hope Road and take a bus. There is a... More

We went to the Shirley Retreat Hotel on the recommendation of a taxi driver who picked us up from another hotel that was treating us quite rudely. What a great idea! Good price, nice, clean and comfy rooms with large beds. Breakfast was great for a good price-a lot more inexpensive than a room at the Pegasus-even with breakfast included.... More

Its plain and simple and brilliant value for money. Nice clean rooms with breakfast for 2/3 rds price of other budget hotels. Right in the center of Kingston.
