Whitfield Hall sits at 4000 feet directly on the main hiking trail that travels up to Blue Mountain Peak. The hall itself, dating from the late 18th century, can provide rustic accommodation for up to 30 guests. Most rooms have bunkbeds, although the Colonel Whitfield room has a double (full) bed and is private. Guides to the Peak can be arranged for trekkers. Hearty, home-cooked meals and other refreshments, including cups of, Blue Mountain coffee brewed with fresh spring water, are available (with advance notice). Guests may also use our kitchen to cook. A campsite is also available. You can hire our driver to provide safe, 4 wheel drive transportation.

I had an absolutely beautiful experience at the Whitfield Hall. It started off great and got even better, with my pick-up from Mavis Bank. The glimpse at village mountain life along the way, with scenic views and Bob Marley music felt like the best drive I could be on. Arriving at the inn, the Whitfield Hall location was relaxing, at-peace with nature, welcoming. The food is great! Coffee is even better! It was some place unique that I'll probably always remember. I love that all the people working there are so self-sufficient in everything they do, living off the land. It's very inspiring. And the hike-- what a hike! There are beautiful birds everywhere, guides that are willing to take you up if you need assistance. You can buy fruit and real Blue Mountain coffee at the bottom of the hill. While trekking I kept thinking "just keep swimming, just keep swimming"-- what an accomplishment to get to the top!

World 100% recommend this to everyone. It is of course a little primitive, but sooo cool! And the people there are exstremely nice and humble. A good place, if you are planning on going to the Blue Mountain Peak. You really just have to follow the track and you’ll climb the mountain eventually

Great base for the hike to the peak. Meals were hearty and delicious to fuel you before/after the hike. Great fresh coffee available for purchase. We arranged for the guided hike and transportation through Whitfield, which was very convenient. Highly recommended as a base to hike the peak or to just camp in the blue mountain.

We had the most amazing time with my husband’s sister. She relaxed, and we relaxed and did The Peak. From booking with John and Maureen, being met my Roydel at Mavis Bank, being greeted by Everton, and the team, that glorious coffee, the delicious meals, the fire on our last night, the attention to detail, and love and care with which it is done, the tour of the plantation and hand processing, to our fascinating, intriguing and caring expert guide and our drive back to Mavis Bank; this is a trip we would all love to make again and again. Thank you, thank you.

Such a great location if you are going to hike blue mountain. Very very rustic and quiet. Meals were simple and filling. Choose the option to get picked up in New Kingston if you want a relaxing trip, seriously they are aggressive drivers in jamaica and it's not for the faint of heart. Got lost driving to Mavis Bank using Google.

The idea of 'rustic' accommodations does not look the same globally and so one must arrive with an open-mindedness to the quaint rustic space that is Whitfield Hall. A little over 20 miles from the hustle and bustle of Papine Square, Whitfield Hall lies nestled in the rolling green hills of Penlyne Castle. To get there in anything less than a 4 wheel drive vehicle would be foolhardy but once there - the serene picturesque hills welcome you. With simple lodgings: a good bed, warm fireplace, good homegrown coffee or food this is the perfect spot to either use as base camp before heading out on a hike to Portland Gap, the famed Blue Mountain Peak or to spend a weekend relaxing in the Jamaican countryside. The staff at Whitfield Hall are all members of the community, unobtrusive and care for you with familial eagerness. Thank you so much for the hospitality we received at Whitfield Hall this weekend. Our family (a large and busy bunch, with kids) felt completely at home and we loved hiking, just sitting, and basking in the silence and the space.

My wife and I and another couple had a wonderful 3 night stay at Whitfield Hall on August 26-29. Everything worked out very well from the transportation up from Kingston by Roydel to all the tasty meals provided by Everton the house manager. We had Charlie for our guide on a wonderful hike to Portland Gap. He did a great job also providing a tour of the coffee farm. Everyone treated us with excellent care and went above and beyond to make us comfortable and welcomed to this special place. We are already thinking of a return hopefully in the next couple of years and would hope to spend an even longer time doing some other hikes in the area and just relaxing in the beautiful mountain air. Overall a great place to unplug and enjoy the mountains and nature. Thank you all!

We spent one night in this lodge. After hiking up the peak we had a great brunch prepared by Everton. Lovely man managing this place like a boss. Great hospitality, good food, amazing fresh coffee coming from the mountain... You don't want to miss that place.

Stayed there for two nights to make it to the peak after walking up from Mavis Bank! No electricity, no hot water just back to the roots with gas lamps and fire places! Everton made us feel very comfortable, cooked great food and was enjoyable to chat with!

We stayed at this plantation home the night before hiking the Blue Mountain. Expect warm and friendly people, but a rustic place. They have running water, but no electricity. So oil lamps at night. You feel transported back in time. Breakfast and dinner was great, they cook for you.
