As a seasoned traveler who has stayed at hotels in NA, Europe, and Asia, St. Joseph's really stands out for food, safety, cleanliness, hospitality, price, and as a memorable experience. Not to be missed. Support the local Haitian economy and a great grassroots mission.

Three friends and I stayed at St. Joseph's in January and attended the 27th anniversary celebration of the founding of the home. This was the first time they had guests in their new home. (The old home was destroyed in the earthquake.) Although the scaffolding was up when we arrived and workers were busy finishing up, the hospitality was the... More

I want to correct the horrible allegation by "rshagen" that physical and sexual abuse of the boys at St. Joseph's has been going for decades..." "rshagen" puts out the name of Michael Guilland as the perpetrator. If you Google this name you'll find that this person, alternately spelled Gililand, is not in any way connected to St. Joseph's. It must... More

The evidence is overwhelming of the physical and sexual abuse of the boys at St. Joseph;s has been going for decades. Research "Michael Guilland" and see it for youself. He has managed to be impregnable.

Having traveled extensively on all 6 continents (not including antarctica:) and having stayed at a range of accommodations (expensive to budget and urban to rural), this is the best lodging experience by far that I've ever had the privilege of experiencing. I'm writing this review because I want travelers to experience this relatively hard-to-find lodge and to know that even... More

I will never stay in another place when I go to Port-Au-Prince. I felt safe, welcomed and more like part of the family than a guest. The boys who live at the house are a delight. The food delicious and safe. Michael, the owner, is an amazing man with a huge heart for not only the boys that he is... More

First, check your American standards at the door. The accomodations are primitive, but outstanding considering it's located in a severely underdeveloped country. St. Joseph's is a boys home where former street children are raised in a loving, safe, and exhorting environment. To further their ministry, they run this guest house. Your money goes to this fabulous cause and you're treated... More

I spent three months in some of the most dangerous favelas in Sao Paolo, Brazil (highest murder rate of any country in the world) and rarely felt in danger because it is such a multicultural country. Not so in Haiti. The entire week I was there I saw a grand total of seven other "blancs" while travelling extensively throughout the... More

I stayed at St. Joe's headed to and from a volunteer stint doing disaster relief work in Gonaives. The rooms are fine, the food is great, and the Home and the boys make for quite a special experience. I contacted them directly at [-] and arranged the room and airport pickup. Note: they have their own blend of really great... More
