This hotel is an experience, not just a place to stay. If you are going to be picky and obsessive about service, cleanliness, upkeep, etc. then you shouldn't stay here (and probably you should not go to Haiti). The Oloffson is not a prepackaged place designed by formula to make you forget where you are. If you are interested in... more

With some concern, I decided to stay at the Oloffson last month despite some of the reviews on this page. I had been there before but didn't know if the hotel hit some bad times after the latest change of government. I shouldn't have been worried at all. Our rooms were clean, the service was efficient and helpful, the food... more

I stayed at the Oloffsen in September 2003 for about five days. As somebody wrote the hotel is in a very very bad shape. A far cry from what the high society luxury hotel of the fifties. Don't forget that, with Cuba, Haiti was a primary destination in the Caribbean back then. Since then it appears that no care has... more

My stay at the Oloffson, in Sept. of 2003, was a step back into another time. The hotel is charming. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The other guests were eclectic and fascinating. I read Graham Greene's The Comedians while rocking on a huge verandah outside my room. The pool was like heaven after the heat of... more

If you want a four star resort with all the bells and whistles, skip the Oloffson. If you want to experence a real jem that has all but disapeared from the world, dont miss the Oloffson. I had stayed at the Oloffson off and on for the past forty years, and it has resmained almost the same. Not so for... more

I stayed at the Oloffson last Nov. 02. If you are looking for luxury, Haiti will be alll wrong for you. The hotel is comfortable and Richard, the owmer was friendly and very helpful to me. The food at the restaurant was very good. My purpose in Haiti is to find artists. Alix Toyo is available to serve as a... more

This Hotel is a trash pit. The owner, Richard Morse, does not keep the place up, and the prices will continue to fluctuate while you are staying there. The staff will accept payments of cash for bar and food purchases and then charge your room again, which leads to serious discrepancies at check-out time, my suggestion do not stay here.... more

I was extremely disappointed with the hotel. The room was not as advertised. I had to ask for a television. The airconditioning was broken and was't going to be fixed for three days due to the Easter holiday. I would not have minded not having AC, but the mosquitoes were bad and the hotel did not have mosquitoe netting over... more

Picture a gingerbread house on a hill in a tropical land. Imagine entering the circle drive and looking towards the center of the courtyard. There your eyes will see a fountain surrounded by wild turkeys. If you look a bit farther you will see the infamous pool (read Graham Greene's The Comedians) As you pass the Vodou statues on the... more
