I stayed here for one night after traveling from the countryside of Haiti to Port au Prince. This hotel is magical, the artwork, the design, the rooms all big with so much history. Think a less high end Chateau Marmont transported to Haiti, and you get the vibe. Great showers, a wonderful bar and restaurant, and a really friendly atmosphere,... More

This Gingerbread house survived the earthquake because it is built out of wood. It feels like Graham Greene could pop on the terrace for a drink at any time. Lovely green grounds provide a quiet setting in hectic PAP. The dining room on the terrace and spacious bar and reception area are wonderful, as is the music at night. They... More

This is Haiti, folks, so it's not going to be 5 star!!! I loved the Olaffson and thought it was extremely romantic. It felt like something out of the 60s. It is not a holiday inn; it is a hotel with LOADS of personality. I was there with a group of friends on the way home from a mission trip.... More

I am a Historic Preservation Specialist and am working on the restoration of PAP's Gingerbread Houses. The Hotel Olaffson was a Gingerbread turned into a hotel. Check out the building model in the Lobby. Seriously you have to get into the romance of the place. Read Graham Greene's "The Comedians," enjoy the Rum Sours, and stay to listen to RAM... More

I was in PaP with a NGO working in Cite Soliel, the Oloffson was an oasis we returned to every day. yes it has it's cracks in the walls, creaky floors and slow service, but I felt removed from the dust and noise and I felt safe. I will go back to Haiti and I will stay at the Oloffson.... More

The reviews are largely right, it is run down and it is an environment that takes a toll on buildings (humitidy). But this is not Cozumel! This is Port-au-Prince. Here, a fine meal, the comfort of a good bar, friendly (super nice) staff and associates..... This means everything in a place where many who work there have next to nothing.... More

It is delightful to sip a drink or have a sandwich on the hotel's veranda, and visit the gardens, which had many voodoo dolls & macabre curiosities posted here and there. But the service was unprofessional and the dining staff seemed overwhelmed. The rear annex has a wonderful gallery with rocking chairs, and with its panoramic view of the city... More

This is not a hotel for business or holiday travelers, but a marvel for the gemologists among hotel guests. If you don't have the antennas for historic hotels, stay away, go to the Karibe Hotel. Otherwise: this hotel's voodoo spell is inescapable. Would love to go there again and again ... More

We stayed there just for one night. The first room we were shown was the room next to the Jean Claude Van Damme room and we quickly decided not to sleep in there. It had been freshly painted, but there were a lot of holes stuffed with fresh newspapers and by experience I know that this is a sign rats... More

Here is my 2 cents. There are few tourists in Haiti, what there is a lot of, are aid workers, NGO personnel and other people here on business. And as such, the Oloffson might not be what they are looking for. They want a hot bath, tv and a small taste of the comforts of home. The Oloffson might not... More
