My partner & i have just returned from a 2 night break, how anyone can critisize this establishment is beyond belief, they bend over backwards to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, but then again some people seem to be happy when complaining, even though not warranted. exellent quality food, good portions, cooked to perfection by Bruce. breakfast huge, and... Bathroom filthy, poor dinner menu only choice was steak, cutlery dirty, no hot water to have showers, pressure on shower very very poor. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Pictures on web site do not give the right impression of the rooms. Would not stay there again. Menu on web site not the same as the hotel menu. Cats... More

hphughes, Owner at The Hawk & Buckle Inn, responded to this review

Though there has been much time elapsed since this review was written, a few points ought to be responded to. There has NEVER been an instance where the only option on the evening menu was steak. One can only assume the guest meant that they found no other choices appealing, which is an issue no establishment would be able to... More

We chose this hotel as it had excellent reviews and the photographs looked stunning on the website. However although the room booked was described as a 'superior double' our room was not one of those featured on the website, which was a bit disappointing, although it was nice enough I wouldn't describe it as superior. The bathroom was at first... More

My husband booked a one night stay for our anniversary. We had a little trouble finding it because our satnav couldn't re-route itself. We arrived to a friendly and warm welcome from both the owners and the locals. We we're asked if we wanted an upgrade to the bridal suite and told that it would be ready for us shortly.... More

Having booked a three night stay over Christmas through Ebay, a somewhat pleasant journey to the remote village of Llannefydd was brought to a shuddering halt by the combination of snowy roads and a rather steep hill, just over 1 mile away from the Hawk & Buckle. However thanks to the friendly, local hospitality, we soon found ourselves within the... More

Without any expectations of what to arrive too. Myself and my wife booked a Sunday stay at The Hawk & Buckle in early December, before attempting a Monday Christmas shop in nearby Chester. We arrived to snowy car park with views stretching across the hills, and over the distant sea, before entering into a charming, relaxed, village pub with couches... More

Just returned from a Saturday night get away. Wonderful setting. Great views with binoculars supplied. Room clean and warm and cosy as it was below freezing. And the bed was that soft and comfy did not want to get out. Food and wine good. Hosts really friendly and welcoming and offered us a room with a double Jacuizzi with flashing... More
