We stayed here overnight and couldn't praise it highly enough. The decor is modern but warm and inviting. Bathrooms and bedrooms fitted out to a very high standard and all the expected facilities were available. The food on offer was of a high standard and plenty of it, you won't go hungry here! Breakfast food and service were brilliant. We... More

We are so pleased to have discovered Y Talbot. It is one of the best places we have ever stayed. We had a lovely welcome at reception and throughout our stay every single member of staff was friendly, cheerful and helpful. Our room was beautiful and comfortable, with free wifi, ground coffee and perculator, home made biscuits, flat screen TV,... More

6 of us were on a cycling trip from St Davids to Holyhead and Tregaron was our first overnight stop. i was expecting the Talbot to be the normal small market town inn with threadbare carpets and bathroom fittings from the '70s. We had a very warm welcome with lots of help with bikes and luggage. The pub was lively... More

Having never been to the Talbot before, after a long journey back to Uni from North Wales, Myself and my Fiancée decided it would make a nice change for food in a pub other than one in Lampeter. On arrival we were welcomed cheerfully and decided to sit next to the entrance where the log fire is. it is a... More

Poor reception by the barman who had no knowledge of any history or local attractions. Did not speak Welsh despite The Talbot being the heart of Tregaron. We have been coming to the Talbot for years due to family ties to Tregaron but we were thoroughly disappointed at what a non-welcoming, non-Welsh speaking friendly and cold place it has become.... All our staff are recruited locally and 90% are fully bilingual in Welsh and English, all except one of our bar staff are bilingual. Local knowledge by our staff is a strong point as they live in the area, this is enhanced by extensive information, illustrations and pictures by local atrists throughout the building. In renovating Y Talbot we have... More

We booked a mid week break which included dinner, it was good value for money. Our room had been refurbished to a very high standard, the bathroom was one of the very best we have seen. The hotel is in an excellent position for seeing this part of Wales, if you enjoy cycling or walking you could not find a... More

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night. The location is in the centre square of Tregaron. We had a small twin all that was available when we booked. The room functional and clean. We had dinner in the Bar down stairs reserved a table on arrival. The food was a good selection. The prices are not cheap. Quality... More

After a very nice first visit expectations were high prior to our second. The rooms cannot be faulted, clean and well equipped. In the dining room the food was good and well presented but lacked the flair we previously experienced. On the one evening there were a handful of children in the dining room who were constantly in and out... More

Thankyou for visiting us again. There were clearly a couple of niggles on your second visit for which we apologise; all our rooms have individual thermostatic controls and our policy is to have them set prior to arrival to ensure your room is warm-we clearly failed in this instance; concerning children running around in the restaurant on one evening of... I had a fantastic experience at this hotel. The quality of the rooms is outstanding and good value-for-money; the quality of finish would easily be comparable to a good four star hotel. The staff are welcoming and keen to ensure that you enjoy your stay. The food is delicious and there is a good range. I would recommend this place... More
